The road to the mariepskop reserve is a bit bad but can be travelled slowly with a normal car. The road then splits to the Blyderiver picnic site to the left and the reserve and look out point to the right. The road to the picnic spot is rough. If you go to the reserve you have the option to drive all the way to the top of the mountain for some spectacular views. Entrance to the reserve was R30 Pp. The road is concrete all the way to the top but is quite steep at some points but is doable with a normal car. If you go the the waterfall I would not recommend it with a car that has low clearance and is not all wheel drive. The road is not paved, is very uneven and there is a small stream the vehicle has to cross. It it is raining I would be very careful unless you have a 4x4. There is a braai if you want to take some wood and meat to the parking spot for the waterfall but I would recommend you rather pack a picnic and walk the 220m from the parking spot to the waterfall and...

My son got engaged on the 7th Aug 2021. I contacted the Lodge on the 2nd Aug and received the fastest, friendliest, top service from Blyde Lodge. Alfred & Mash were highly competent and did all I asked of them. Their response time is immaculate. The staff went the EXTRA mile and kept everything a secret and gave the Best 5 star service ever. My son & his fiance were given the best treatment and service ever. Breakfast was amazing had a couples massage also. To all the staff Mash & Alfred thank you for your help for the best service the beautiful Romantic decor in their room. They loved every minute of spending time with you all at the Lodge. Well done I say well done to one & all. 5 star service at its best..... 😀😁🤩 with helpful friendly caring...

On our way to Swadini Forever Resort we did the Panoramic Route stopping at the waterfalls, lookouts and at Gods Window, Bourkes Luck pot holes and The Three Rondawels. Beware of pot holes on the road on the route. It is necessary to pay a small amount to gain access to some of the sights. Pensioner rates available. The views and sights are well worth the trip...spectacular!! The Blyde Canyon is breathtaking. At each stop there are numerous woman with their little stalls selling a variety of curios and mementos. They are mostly willing to negotiate a price! Most of the toilet facilities are clean. The Pot holes has a small resturant or you can picnic! A beautiful route which impressed our...

An absolutely special, majestic and unique place. At the edge of the Eastern Drakensberg escarpment and the beginning of safari country in the Lowveld, heafing into the Kruger National Park and surrounding private reserves. Today, I did the Mariepskop side. A lesser known, yet completely spectacular mountain. It is the highest peak in the region at just over 1950 metres above sea-level. It has unique biodiversity, in the form of the Afromontane forest and Alpine grassland. Amazing views , trees, birds and big rolling mountains all round. Plus the Canyon, its walking trails and more.
