Jock-Sabie Lodge — Hotel in Thaba Chweu Local Municipality

When we arrived at Jock Sabie Lodge, I was impressed by the gardens and thought it would be a pleasant stay. As soon as I saw our unit everything was brushed off. It was very very basic and was like that room had not been used for years and had been opened because they needed to accommodate us. the worst and scariest part of the experience was that two of the beds had bugs and the three of us had to squeeze in one double bed. There was no air conditioning and the fan made a loud noise even on low speed.

There was no lock in the trelly door, the main bedroom was situated in a way where no sunlight or fresh air could come in, the bathroom was filthy and in a complete mess, the kitchen did not have enough equipment in it, the fridge was too small for a self catering unit and we could barely fit all our things in there. Over and above everything, the dustbin was also broken there were only two dirty towels for the three of us and they never bothered to change them.

Apart from the daily cleaning of the unit and the gardens, there was no bright side to this lodge. Do not be amazed by the lush green gardens and big pool because the inside is actually horrifying. Definitely not worth its price and I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Some Photos...

If I were you I would certainly avoid this establishment. They claim to have a 3 star rating, well I am sorry they are not even up to the standard of a 1 star place. Where do we begin. We tried to check in, admittedly we were a bit early so we went to check if we would be able to check in early, they asked us to fill in some forms which we did and then were told to wait. Eventually the lady came back and said we could check in after 14:30. Mmmm. Not a great start. So we went for lunch. Came back closer to 15:00 and our room was not ready. Then the room that we were allocated had no TV. So at their insistence they moved us. That’s fine. However the room we were moved to was not great. There was mold on the roof of the bathroom, the fitted sheet kept coming off the bed. The room was not exactly clean. |We decided to have a swim. Yuck! The pool is full of algae and needs a good cleaning. |If your in a pinch and need a place to stay then ok. But if you want to relax and enjoy your time in Sabie I would seriously avoid. The place was very dirty, the place is very old and not taken care of at all, the toilets pipes were releasing water when flushing, the stoves are very old with no gas connected to it. You hear everything from your neighbors even when they turn at night. The beds are very old and noisy. Worst part is service that is given, the reception is always empty and don't want to attend to anything at all. The whole time water kept cutting off, some of my friends had to go around looking for water in other rooms while receptionist went awol. I would advise everyone to stay away from this place, the pool is very dirty, not taken care of, when you call them for help they won't even answer.
