The African Elephant Restaurant — Restaurant in Thaba Chweu Local Municipality

We ate both of our nights in Sabie at the African Elephant restaurant. We enjoyed it very much. First time we had a special, the traditional Potjie (stew). I had oxtail my friend had lamb, both were very tasty. Then we asked the restaurant for a Bobotie for our second night. They didn’t have it on the menu but they were so kind to prepare it specifically for us. It was also really good and tasty as well. Excellent food & service. The Eisbein was the real stand out between the dishes. The portion size was jumbo, but the quality was not compromised. The meat was tender and succulent while the skin was nice and crispy.

Don't get me wrong, the ribs and wings as well as the rib basket did not leave anyone disappointed. Tasty!

I have to change my 5* review. It used to be a favourite restaurant. Today however I was very dissapointed. I always order the chicken skewer , use to be bone and skinless. Today 5 pieces with skin and a lot of bones and tasteless. The pumpkin was watery.... see photo, also they didnt have Sprite zero, though Spar is a few metres away. There were also 3 mistakes...
