The Potter’s Inn is a national heritage building that dates back centuries. In fact, I’m told it’s the oldest building in Greyton. Of course, being an old building, staying there comes with all the creaks and groans of such a building, but it was very comfortable. The layout was neat, clean and even though people were having parties over the weekend, the room was cosy and quiet. It’s super convenient that the restaurant is downstairs and the food is tasty and well-prepared. Travellers’ tip: it’s not on the menu, but ask for the oxtail. Wow, the kitchen does a good job with that – tender as you like. That brings us to the staff: Edwina was the consummate hostess, taking the time to guide the vehicle to a safe off-street parking and being very gracious in accommodating the needs of the guests. Kevin the problem solver who goes above and beyond to find solutions to issues related to an old building. Well done to them and all the staff, you were noticed and very much appreciated. The pool is lovely and for those who book very early, there’s the option of also booking one of the cottages – they are truly a wonderful, quiet stay in a picturesque setting.

The pavement appeal is quaint and in our dealings with the assistant Anna were very good. The outdoor or inner courtyard could be upgraded as it's a little aged. The rooms however we stayed in above the bar were despite their age and quaintness modern, near and very nice indeed. The bathroom and shower were excellent. The swimming pool area was however in need of new covers for loungers as we have the only two ropey ones to another couple as there were not enough for all chairs but t we all had to relocate from the lawn on driveway edge to pathway side due to the lawn being full of thorns which I thought would have been a shame should a visiting couple have children. Views of the mountain from the fully booked painted cottages were beautiful and there was plentiful parking for residents staying over off street.

This place is a little gem! Our welcoming was great, I asked for a beer before they showed us our room, beer was served and we went for a swim. Water was perfect!! Our room isn't the biggest but comfortable enough for us and the luggage. They maybe couldve asked to take our luggage as it was upstairs.. Toilet is way to high and bed verry low, still supper comfartable and verry clean. The fact that its a brewery is just amazing! Things that I will change: Outside area at bar. More seating at pool. Take guests luggage to rooms. They will deff see me again!! Super cool place with good food, great beer and awesome overall experience.

New owners - turns out also new to the hospitality industry. After having checked-in, established that the Aircon was not working. It was a Western Cape midweek heatwave at the time. Further we had to rinse the dishes which were dusty.||I spent the evening with a friend in the village while my husband remained in our room. After check-out we had a dip in the pool intending to have lunch at the Old Potter restaurant. The staff were friendly and accommodating. A short time into our dip, the owner (Mr) came through the common pool area and was clearly annoyed. He brusquely asked us if our car was in his parking space - which it was not - the car belonged to another guest - and further asked whether we had checked out. We said that we had, and were biding time (between 111:30-12.30) until we could have lunch at the brewery. There were no other people at the pool at the time. Not long after this interaction, the owner told my husband who was having a drink in the pub, that the pool was for guests only - in an abrupt manner (perhaps from a previous annoyance regarding his car). We left the area immediately and decided to have lunch at a different venue - we already had starters and drinks at Old Potters though, thinking we would stay for lunch. As a Tier 4 Google reviewer, I wrote a simple review on our experience. The result was that the owner embarked on a character assassination of myself and my husband; stating that we had had an altercation that had made other guests uncomfortable. This allegation is a complete fabrication or the owner (Mr) is confusing us with other guests. The whole encounter was...

Our room (number 4) which was/is one of the most expensive that are on offer per website (standard king) was extremely disappointing. As soon as we walked into the room & pungent smell of damp hit us. We immediately opened the all of the windows (2) in the room & left them open. We hoped it (the damp smell) would go away. Upon closer inspection of the room, we saw that the walls & ceiling were in actual fact moldy. This was extremely unpleasant to look it.

The smell of the room was positively nauseating & irritated my throat, sinuses & skin & I spent much of the night awake due to this. The bathroom too, has no window (which is fine) however the ventilation is poor & mold is growing on the shower stone & the room itself smells of damp. Luckily the bathroom has a proper sealing door which we could keep shut. The staff are friendly & I cant fault their service. Our room (& I cant speak for the other rooms) was really one that I couldnt wait to get out of. Having to look at & smell mold/ damp, made for a...
