Hout Bay Breeze B&B is located in a residential area on the hill overviewing the bay, and offers 7 rooms over 2 floors, a nice terrace, and a tiny pool. Parking is free. The guesthouse belongs to a chain of four B&Bs in Hout Bay & Camps Bay and is operated as a cash-cow. Furnishings and decoration provide an OK atmosphere, but maintenance is non-existent. Service is friendly.||Our spacious room had table & chair, club-chair, large desk & chair, air-conditioning, TV, an OK kingsize bed, wardrobe with safe, and terrace with table & chairs. Windows can be open but do not have mosquito screens. Sleep without fresh air or be prepared for blood-feeding insects buzzing around your head. We had an adequate bathroom with double washbasin, toilet & shower over the bath. All was superficial clean.||Complimentary tea & coffee. Between 08:00 and 010:00 breakfast is served: eggs made to order, bread, fresh fruit-salad & yoghurt, orange juice, tea & coffee. Hout Bay Breeze B&B is a quiet accommodation, and we...
Read moreOur stay in Hout Bay started off on a terrible note. We booked somewhere else and they did not leave the key with the guard and we ended up having to find somewhere else to stay. We found Hout Bay Breeze online and booked for 2 nights. The Manager (Bianca) was very helpful and friendly, but the guy who helped us check in was not wearing a mask at all. When we walked into the property there were quite a few people sitting at the dinner table having dinner (not sure if they were guests or friends of the guy who checked us in), but they were so loud and noisy (despite the rules stating that quiet times are between 21:30 and 7:00). The room that we were checked into was right next to the dining room and there is no way we would have been able to sleep with all that noise and we feared that we would be woken up with the same noise in the morning. The fact that no masks were worn and that there was no noise control forced us to cancel our booking. Bianca was kind enough to...
Read moreWe enjoyed our stay, views are beautiful and staff are friendly.
We did have a couple of issues though: The bathroom door had run marks on the back of it, like something had been messed and was never cleaned Towels in the room were old and fraying and also smelt like they had not been dried properly. Only one light bulb in the ceiling worked - the bed lamps are not bright enough if you need more light For the cost per night, there should at least be 2 ply toilet paper, cheap 1ply is not great Lots of little things broken in the room - the closet is cheap and falling apart, taps in the bathroom are loose on the basins. Also the pool was not clean - maintenance is not kept up very well on the outside or inside of the building Issues with aircon on our second day - were given a fan for 34 degree heat Staff were difficult to find when having to report issues Litter lying around in the garden
This could really be a lovely establishment if these issues were...
