There were so many options when it came to choosing a place to stay in Cape Town. As our first time visiting, it was overwhelming to choose. The different neighborhoods and the best location to make homebase became confusing after a while. We ended up at Poseidon, bc after a while, I just decided “well I have to make a choice, and wow look at this view!” If there were ever a time the universe was on my side on a whim decision, it was booking Poseidon House Guest! Janni and Danie, our hosts, were GIFTS. There’s no other way to put it. Immediately welcoming and made you feel, not as if you were merely a guest, but rather a friend visiting them. When travelling, you expect to be without certain comforts of home, but in the case of Poseidon Guest house, there was actually more. (now that I’m home, I’m side eyeing my Keuring and wondering, ‘where’s my French press’ with my pinky up) The ambience, the details in the décor chosen with love, the cleanliness, the view, and Oh My God the breakfasts! On our first night there, we got stuck at a restaurant and realized, Uber is not coming. We called Janni out of desperation, and he graciously came to our rescue. He is kind and caring and has a warmth about him that makes you feel calm and welcomed and right at home. My family left feeling like we’ve made a very special friend. We are very grateful for the time we spent at Poseidon and can not wait to come back! PS, I noted what the other guests said about first arriving. You’re not exactly sure what to expect as you pull up to the front gate… but have faith! You are about to walk into a Haven from which you’ll never...
Read moreWe loved our stay here (in the Deco room).|The hosts were extremely friendly and gave lots of tips as to places we should visit.|Perhaps one of the best things was the continuous power supply (via a solar system) so our stay was not affected by load shedding. This helped my husband a lot as he needs a CPAP machine to sleep. |The daily cooked breakfast was a huge highlight. The wonderful fruit bowl. The eggs (cooked to your liking), bacon, caramelised onions, mushrooms and tomatoes. Everything was tasty and presented so nicely.|Our room had a great view from the balcony, a very comfortable mattress and the bathroom had both a shower and a bathtub. |The room was cleaned and towels refreshed every day during our 4 night stay. |The parking was also in a gated secured area. |We were also able to have access to an unlimited supply of filtered water in the kitchen. |The dogs on the property were unobtrusive and lovely.|For all the above, the price was fantastic. We felt we were getting an...
Read moreWe have just spent 3 nights at Poseidon Guest House in Hout Bay and wish we had booked for a longer time. The guest house has a magnificent position overlooking the bay and is a perfect base to explore the Cape. The rooms were beautifully presented and very clean. You do need a car, and when going out for evening meals it's best just to use Uber as they were plentiful and very cheap (£6 / 7 euro for a 20 minute ride).
However the best part was the attention of the hosts Janni and Danni. They were fantastic and without doubt presented the best breakfasts we have ever had. If we travel to the Cape again, which I suspect we will, it will be the first on our list.
Cheynes restaurant was brilliant, and if you are there Friday - Sunday visit Hout Bay market and have the food from one of the numerous...
