We stayed at Hout Bay Lodge for 5 nights. We chose to stay here on the strength of the friendly and welcoming e-mail communication with Jochen.||||Hout Bay Lodge is located about 3 km from the beach at Mariners Wharf and well located for the road to Camps Bay and Cape Town.||||On arrival, Jochen was there to welcome us, assist with our bags and to settle us in. He was every bit as welcoming as expected (from the e-mails).||||We had the 'Eagles Nest' family room which had two single beds in one room and a double bed in the other room, with shower/toilet off the double room. The rooms were spotlessly clean, light and airy. The beds were very comfortable. ||||Hout Bay Lodge is built on one level as a quadrangle with a reasonably sized swimming pool and seating area in the centre. Lots of sliding doors give easy access to this area. There is also a comfortable sitting room with good views across Hout Bay and the mountains. To the rear is a large kitchen/breakfast room. ||||Secure parking is provided. There is also free wifi.||||Teas, coffee and milk are provided in the kitchen for guests to help themselves. There is also a large fridge containing wines and soft drinks which guests can purchase, and sign for. There is a shelf in this fridge for guests to use. The rest of the kitchen is not for guests use.||||Breakfast had a great selection of cereals, fruits, breads, meats and cheeses, as well as cooked eggs and bacon. Jochen and his wife were on hand to welcome guests and serve breakfast. This was also the time when advice/guidance was given about things to do in the area. Jochen and his wife always made us feel welcome at breakfast and were always genuinely interested in what we might be planning to do. There were also some lovely touches, such as chocolates to celebrate Nikolaus on 6th December.||||Jochen and his wife were particularly good with our granddaughter and really helped to make her week special.||||One point to note; there was no TV. Before anyone reels in shock.....this was actually a positive thing, as when we weren't out, we read and our granddaughter wrote a daily diary and played and wasn't bored at all.||||We had a great few days at Hour Bay Lodge and would 100%...
Read moreIn November we had a wonderful experience at the lodge! The combination of good service, cleanliness, and attentive owners, Mr and Mrs Jochen & Daniela Wanner, can make a big difference in a stay. |Being well-situated near Cape Town, and the vineyards is certainly a bonus, allowing for easy access to both Cape Town and beautiful surroundings such as Robben Island |Lodge to be...
