Le Gaulois Luxury Flats — Hotel in Western Cape

So me and my husband booked this flat for three months. We had to pay the full amount of cash beforehand. At first sight, everything seemed fine, even though for the price we paid the flat was really small and the bathroom was practically inside the bedroom (you could hear each other breath). But we soon realized that we didn't have any privacy, the owner kept coming in everyday for something, checking that we weren't doing anything. He also hired a gardener, who we caught several times, that he was looking in. We didn't feel relaxed, so we asked for the flat that was one level higher. ||With that flat the problem was, except for still not having any privacy, that the stove was leaking gas. While baking an egg, we had an explosion. The owner didn't believe us but when he was "investigating", a flame broke out. After the incident, he agreed that we could leave two weeks early and that he would pay us 500 euros back. ||The day we left we got a letter telling us, he backed out of the payment. That was way too late, even though he promised us, we had already booked our plane back. ||||To summarize it should have been an amazing vacation, but it gave me so much stress, my privacy was completely violated and the owner is not open for reasoning. A week ago I enjoyed an extremely relaxing 1-night stay at Le Gaulois Luxury Flats and the only regret I had was that I didn't have a week stay! It is the kind of place where you need to spend a few days to firstly unwind and rest and secondly to explore - not only the village of Gordon's Bay, but also the nearby wine estates in the Helderberg as well as the beautiful Cape Whale Coast along Clarens Drive towards Betty's Bay, Kleinmond and Hermanus. ||||The Le Palmier flat where I stayed in on the top level is spacious, beautifully decorated in island-inspired style, with all the self-catering conveniences one could possibly wish for. Although I was on my own, I'd say that it is ideal for a romantic weekend away and a vacation long-stay. Because of its elevated position, two levels above beach road, the ocean and mountain views are simply magnificent. Just sitting on the patio to enjoy the fresh seabreeze and gorgeous view hit the spot for me.||||HIGHLY recommended for an escape from it all, while not too far out of Cape Town or from the airport that you would lose precious holiday time on travelling. Myself and my girlfriend were at Le Gaulois Luxury Holiday Flats for 3 nights and what a time we have had there. We were situation on the top floor and the views that we had were out of this world. The mountain views were just amazing, the sound of the ocean just puts you in that relaxed vibe and its the most beautiful in the morning. The location is perfect as everything that you need is 5 min away, at most. We were basically stuck in the room the entire weekend as the wind was pretty strong but that never bothered us as the room had everything we needed. We just Netfixed and chill most of the time but I blame the bed as it was so comfortable too lol. We wished that time was never going to come for us to leave.
