Northern Vine Guesthouse — Hotel in Western Cape

I don’t usually write reviews, but I feel strongly that I can’t stay silent about what happened during my stay at Northern Vine Guest House.

When one of my friends visited me at the guesthouse, the owner made a homophobic comment that was not only deeply inappropriate but completely unacceptable. While my friend doesn’t want to make a fuss, I refuse to ignore it. I was shocked and hurt to witness such blatant discrimination — especially from the person in charge of the establishment.

Regardless of someone’s personal beliefs, there’s no excuse for making any guest or visitor feel judged, uncomfortable, or unsafe. Hospitality should be about warmth, respect, and welcome. What happened was the exact opposite.

I’m sharing this because people deserve to know. If you value inclusivity and basic human decency, I would think twice before supporting a place where such behaviour comes from the very top.

An experience that we never expected. We booked 16 nights & everyday was an awesome experience, rooms always clean, fresh with a decadent scent. The best of all was the hospitality received from Hans & Vicky, the best of the best. Not only were we treated like royal guests, but also became friends. Atmosphere is and was always so friendly and inviting making our stay and incredible experience, was very hard to leave🙂🤗 I would rate them 7 stars ⭐️. So far the best Guesthouse we have stayed at in Cape Town. the room was very clean, tidy and complete. there was a large flatscreen TV and even air conditioning. hostess Vicky and her husband Hans were very friendly and did everything they could to make us feel comfortable. also one of their two dogs, Bruno was very friendly. After 3 days the bed was already changed and the floor swept. also the trash bins were emptied regularly. also the breakfast "Bacon & Eggs" was great! If we come back to Cape Town we would like to stay here again at the Northern Vine Guesthouse. Rien and Lesley Roof...
