Vroulikheid Landgoed is a working farm with orchids and horses. Their farm is exquisitely nestled between the mountains and boasts views from all angles. I expressed to my host during my stay that it felt like waking up in a Pierneef landscape.
Other than the view the cottage was beautifully kept and well designed. There was an outdoor wood-fired hot tub and outdoor shower and an indoor fire place. (Perfect for reading and relaxing into sundowners) It is well protected by trees on either side and so it feels very private and intimate. Almost like the rest of the world no longer really exists.
I also had the opportunity to join Anri on a horse ride across the farm with all her dogs in tow. It was a spectacular ride and it was lovely to hear someone talk with such passion for their work both with the horses and the farm.
These are lovely people and their guests are more than lucky to get to visit. 10/10 would highly recommend.

Read moreWe spent 4 nights mid-week at the delightful Kingfisher cabin - it had everything we needed (including a hair dryer, which wasn't on the list). We asked for our Kol Kol to be pre-heated up for us on one of the nights so that when we returned from a long day cycling we could climb straight in. It was done no problem. We did some cycling around the farm then went on to do the numerous trails. Cycling heaven. The facilities were super clean, bed comfy, everything we needed, including a welcoming sherry. We had vehicle issues in CPT and advised we'd be arriving late, around 20h30, which wasn't a problem. On the higher end price-wise, but we really enjoyed our stay and felt it was worth it. My one suggestion is to put a proper plug on the hairdryer so as not to have to use the adaptor,l which keeps falling out - and to have 2 plugs near the microwave, so as not to have to keep moving it. Other than...
Read moreThe spot was amazing. Close to Tulbagh town but still feels very secluded. The cabins are beautifully decorated and has everything you need. From aircon and wood fireplace, to wood fired hot tubs, Smart TV and wifi. Even gas stove and geyser. Views of the surrounding mountains, that you can stare at all day. Stars in their billions on an open night. If you choose to, you can switch off and listen to the birds chirping and the sounds of nature while the wood chuckles in the massive braai/BBQ. We also enjoyed the silence whilst walking through the fruit orchards right behind the cabins. Thank you for everything Antoinette. If relaxation and utilising the word "GET AWAY" is important to you then this place is...
