Family oriented resort with focus on children. There's plenty of activities for kids like the outdoor swimming park, walkable stone beach, and other games for kids. There is food court for food.
For adults, there's a small bar with limited drinks, and an infinity pool.
The resort is broken into a hotel wing and a timeshare family suites. We stayed at the family suite "le ciel" and there's a separate valet parking.
Room: The room is clean with nice view of the ocean. We stayed at the 18th level so it was high enough to avoid mosquitoes and noise. There is an outside balcony with seating and small table to enjoy the views and outside weather. We had a master bedroom + bedroom den with the two twin beds in den room. It's clearly for a family of 4 rather than for two groups of adults. There is a kitchen with mini fridge, hot water boiler and some utensils + plates + bowls. There is a fume food and stove but they're not plugged in and you cannot cook. This is to keep the place clean.
Service: We were offered the timeshare by a family friend so our car wasn't registered with "le ciel". You can call advance to get the valet parking. They pretty much ignored us but underground self serve parking is an option. We buzzed the help button at gate to enter telling them of our suite reservation. You'd use the concierge desk instead of front desk. There's a tablet that supports English, Korean, Chinese and Japanese to order extra towels, toilet paper, food, etc.
Amenities: The infinity pool was bookable for a fee/person with limited time slots. It's upstairs on 20th floor with amazing view of ocean and nearby mountains. There change room for men and women with free lockers. NOTE: hat is required to prevent hair from falling into the pool. You'd have to buy from the gift shop if you did not bring a hat of some sort. There's a small bar to order drinks too.. they did not mention the drinks were included in the price of the infinity pool.
There's a small coffee shop on hotel lobby side that serves a special salt coffee. Limited seating. In general there's limited seating around the public areas.
There's a convenience store on site that sells everything from alcohol to toothbrushes if you need. The prices were very reasonable.
Location: The location is a bit of a drive from other tourist areas. There is maybe two walkable seafood barbeque restaurants that's a bit pricey.
Overall, it's an ok stay if...
Read moreIn the Hanwa Resort, me and my family stayed at Le Ciel. Le Ciel is very expensive and we paid 700 dollars every night and we stayed for 3 nights. That is 2100 dollars in total for this trip. For that price, I would expect an amazing experience, however that was not the case. I gave this hotel 2 stars considering the price, if it was any other hotel it may have been 3 stars at best. The food was okay. Literally nothing special and it is just your ordinary Korean food you can get off the street. It tastes just fine. 6.5/10 for the food. The customer service is where it really suffers. We simply asked for more towels because we had run out of clean ones. It took them an entire day to get us the towels. None of us could shower that day. We had to call them up several times requesting clean towels and they kept saying that they would bring them and never would. Until they gave us the towels the next day with no explanation. 3/10 customer service Now this next one really upsets me. When you come to this hotel the main attractions that you would want to visit during your time here would be the infinity pool and gym. The infinity pool is for 18+ and the gym is for 16+ what the actual hell is that. you cant use the infinity pool unless youre 18? Like I said I came here with my family and the kids couldnt even use the damn pool and most other families will also come here with kids. I cant even think of a valid reason for making the pool 18+ its just stupid. And get this, the rooms are mediocre too. Horrible experience for way...
Read moreThis resort is relatively new and allegedly very popular with families with kids. There were lots of kids in evidence in the lobby running through the huge space, which was designed like an art museum: spacious with hard surfaces, little seating and sculptures throughout. It didn't look like a family place on entry. The art museum appearance persisted throughout. ||||We stayed in a standard room. There was no cross ventilation at all, which is odd to this traveler in a location that is often quite warm and experiences high humidity. This meant that at night the room was stuffy and we had to use air conditioning which gave me a headache as I slept. The beds were certainly on the soft side. We were in a double room and didn't have even a single bath size towel. There were only 12" X 24" towels to use in the shower. ||||Facilities for children abound. There are two pools and lost of other play facilities. Places for adults are limited to one pool on the roof for which you must make an appointment. Hours are also rather restrictive. We didn't try the spa facilities but this appeared to be mostly the usual massage services and an exercise facility. It is odd, given Koreans' love of water spas, that there wasn't one. ||||I'm not sure I would return given the high tariff--US$150+ per night. The restaurants were similarly expensive and we decided to dine outside the hotel. (There is a food court with more reasonable fare as well.) It is definitely better value if...
