We enjoyed out stay at this hotel.||||The rooms are clean and the beds and pillows are very comfortable. The bathrooms are very nice. ||||The staff at this hotel was very friendly and accommodating. ||||The lobby is lovely, with nice music playing, although I suggest that they not play the same song over and over. ||||There are many coffee shops, restaurants and steak restaurants within easy walking distance. We happen to be mostly vegetarian, and we were able to find accommodating restaurants nearby. ||||The breakfast buffet was exceptionally good, with an assortment of high quality food in a very pleasing atmosphere. It cost less if you purchase it as part of the hotel plan before you get there. ||||To us, having a good fitness center was very important. They have an excellent fitness center with good high quality machines. We encountered a problem when unexpectedly they told us it was closed for the entire day for cleaning. When had been at the fitness center room the day before, it was spotless and did not need cleaning. So this did not make sense. After explaining to them that this was important to us, they let us use the fitness center even though it was "closed for the day". I appreciated this. ||||I did find the staff exceptionally accommodating to our requests including a quick response when we had difficulty connecting to wifi, which turned out to work well. ||||I also LOVED the high pressure really nice shower and bathroom. ||||There are a couple things I would suggest to the manager. The thermostat in the room did not seem to respond when we wanted to cool the room down due to afternoon sun. Also, more ventilation in the bathroom would be nice, but that is no different than other Asian hotels we have been to. ||||The view from our room, especially at night looking at the lights, was wonderful. ||||Overall, we really liked this hotel and would...
Read more2-stars based on the service I received regarding the following issue.
While attempting to take a shower, the water backed up as the drain failed to allow water to drain. Water slowed out of the shower and into the bathroom, essentially flooding the bathroom. Luckily, I was able to put towels down to prevent the water from going into the bedroom and onto the hardwood floor.
I called the front desk to alert them of the issue. By the time he came up, the water drained, but there was still water on the floor. The young front counter representative came up to see the issue, then left for a few minutes before returning with what I can only assume was a plumber.
I left the two men in the room so they could deal with the issue without me in their way. Upon returning, the front counter representative stated that they would be not be able to fix the issue that night. I asked if they had mopped up the excess water in the bathroom, his reply was no. Apparently Ramada would rather their guest slip and fall on water, hurting themselves on the hard marble floor, instead of mopping up the water.
The remedy of the front counter representative...to bring me 3 additional towels so that I could mop up the...
Read moreWe were told this was the best hotel in Gwangju where we had come for hiking and as the Ramada name promises it is a typical hotel layout you would expect for a mid-level business hotel. Unfortunately, the hotel is tired and in need of a remodel. The lobby is nice but don’t be deceived. The room was decent size with a reasonable but compact bathroom. The rugs were shot, water stains on the chairs and ceiling, mildew in the bathroom shower, the cold water faucet in the bathroom sink was barely a trickle and the in room safe continued to malfunction. Service was below expectations. The front desk staff were gracious but it would be a challenge for English only speakers at the hotel. Housekeeping was below standard, the room wasn’t prepped with all the basic towels and the room wasn’t fully cleaned on the first day.||||What the hotel does get right is the buffet breakfast in the 17th floor restaurant. Wide variety of good food including both western as well as Asian selections and cooks for eggs made to order. ||||If this is the best hotel in Gwangju I would be concerned about what the...
