Introduction Located about 35 minutes drive away from the Jeju international airport in Seogwipo, South Korea, the Mercure Ambassador Jeju (머큐어앰배서더 제주) is a 3-star hotel surrounded by sprawling greenery, with its theme inspired by the nearby Teddy Bear Museum, and offering a golf course voted as being among the best in South Korea. The Mercure Ambassador Jeju is well positioned as a relaxing leisure retreat.
Ambience Ambience at Mercure Ambassador Jeju is themed around teddy bears, with the iconic toy in life-size proportions around the hotel, decked in various outfits. This means as you approach each of the hotel's facilities, you'll see appropriately dressed teddy bears. The marble lined corridors are warmly lit, and the grounds feature ample greenery. The hotel offers a decent view of its surroundings from the upper floors.
Room Rooms at Mercure Ambassador Jeju are large, well furnished, clean, and roomy, offering good views of the surrounding greenery and skyline. I stayed at The Plum presidential suite and then the Junior Suite; both were comfortable and spacious, well stocked with amenities, with luxurious finishes. My only disappointment was that I couldn't stay for a longer duration to enjoy the rooms!
Service Service at Mercure Ambassador Jeju is fantastic. Staff deftly delivered service recovery with grace, and beyond Korean, they're able to communicate in halting English and Mandarin. Staff are quick to fulfil requests, and proactively deliver thoughtful gestures that delight. Thumbs up for all the service staff here, particularly those from reception and housekeeping!
Facilities & Activities The facilities and activities at Mercure Ambassador Jeju are geared towards leisure travellers, particularly golfers, as they offer among the best golf courses here. The sun deck and heated infinity outdoor swimming pool are perfect for relaxing, while the well-equipped gymnasium offers a good range of workouts. I like the board games corner, but the karaoke rooms were being refreshed during our visit. Overall, I would love to return to the Mercure Ambassador Jeju...
Read moreLovely hotel theme with Teddy Bear. The hotel room is spacious and the bed is super comfortable! However, the main reason for 3 stars is because of the restaurant. The clubhouse provided breakfast doesn't belong to Mercure so when we went there for dinner without knowing, I couldn't used my Accor plus benefits. If I have know that the clubhouse is not part of the hotel I wouldn't have dinner there. The way they advertise the restaurant made it sound like it's a hotel restaurant. And that lead to the next issue for welcome drinks voucher for us. As the hotel doesn't have a restaurant, the welcome drinks for members are at the lobby from 4 - 6 pm when we were out and about everyday so we didn't get a chance to have the welcome drinks at all. The first day we arrived at the hotel in Jeju, the weather was above 20 degrees all day so it was very warm inside, we try to turn on aircon settings to sleep but it didn't seem to work so we informed reception. It turned out the hotel cut the aircon system after 6 pm so you only allow to use aircon during the day! I choose the hotel with aircon because I like it cool when I sleep, not to turn on aircon when I go out. And that led to the next issue, reception suggested we open the balcony door if we wanted to cool down the room, our room was on the second floor above the hotel entry so we can always hear people shouting at night when they come back or when they head out to breakfast in the morning. Mid of our stayed we came back late from our day out around 10 pm and there were only 2 parking spots left however the parking spot is so narrow, even when we managed to park in the spot, my husband couldn't even open the car door more than 10 cm. Super narrow car park. It wasn't an issue until when the car park was full! Overall, it was okay. It's the only Accor hotel on Jeju island. The staff were all friendly and apologetic when there were issues such as no umbrella to lend, the karaoke room closed, housekeeping forgot to shut the room door properly. All these issues...
Read moreA quiet relaxing setting, surrounded by forest.|We didn’t have a car, but we were happy to catch the bus on the main road (about a 5-minute walk from the hotel). We only explored the southeastern attractions as we had been to the northwest and eastern side of the island previously. We were upgraded to a suite for our 5 night stay due to our platinum Accor status. It was nice to have a separate bedroom, large lounge and 2 toilets. We also had 2 balconies; one overlooked the heated outdoor pool. The pool doesn’t open until 10.00 a.m. so there was no early morning noise. We had use of the lounge which included wine from 4.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. and soft drinks and coffee until 9.00p.m. The hotel doesn’t have its own restaurant, and it uses the Golf clubhouse facilities across the road for breakfast and other meals. The dinner menu is limited in western choices, and we ate a black pork cutlet and a chicken platter on two consecutive nights. They were delicious but not for 5 nights running. Unfortunately, the clubhouse restaurant does not participate in the Accor restaurant discount, nor do you accrue points for money spent there. We took the bus to Flows, a nearby Italian restaurant (see our separate review). It was worth the 15-minute trip. We highly recommend this hotel if you don’t mind a bit...
