We have just spent four nights at Camping Orgiva in the Alpujarra and would like to recommend. |It's a small to medium sized site on two levels. The call it a garden site but it is mainly dirt and grass. The lower level where we were had more grass than the upper level and also had gorgeous views. Very peaceful and we were so lucky with the weather. I guess in Summer the grass will be dry and in wet spell there will be quite a bit of mud, but for our visit it was perfect. The pitches were lovely and large.|The reception staff were very quick to respond to emails, and very welcoming and helpful. They sorted us a gas bottle and even gave my husband a lift up to the village and back so he could do a supermarket shop. |We stayed 6 hours over time today which we were expecting to be charged for, but weren't. The cost was 26.55 per night with 10% off for the ACSI card. |There is waste land next to the site where dogs can have a run off lead.|I didn't use the toilets or showers but my husband says it was all clean and the water pressure was good. Th shower block is heated too.|Rustic restaurant on site. Service wasn't great but the menu was comprehensive and the food very good. The only time a portion of prawns has beaten me.|A walk up to the village for lunch was a 6.5 km hike uphill. I struggled with it but I generally fit person would manage fine. We had a lovely meal in the town plaza. A few glasses of vino and thankfully downhill all the way back.|We will...
Read moreDuring our campervan stay we had 3 nights with electric hook-up for €16 per night. We had thought that our ACSI camping card would give us a discount, but they were quick to point out that they are only registered with the separate ACSI motorhome card, which is different to the camping card. This was the only campsite open in Orgiva in December so there was not a lot of choice. The situation is good and we used it for some fantastic bike rides into the Sierra Nevada. Being December, the pool and leisure facilities were not operating and Wi-fi only worked close to the reception office. Facilities were clean and adequate, but as mentioned by a previous reviewer there was no loo roll. The centre of the main camping pitch area was dominated by a motorhome and family that appeared to be long term residents and had spread their washing lines, kiddies toys, dog kennel etc. around much of the surrounding area. This gave quite an untidy and unloved feel to the whole area. Friends of ours that had stayed the previous week had experienced exactly the same. I appreciate that we were very much "out of season" but as one of the major advertising slogans boasts that this site is open all year we felt that they really could make a bit...
Read moreMy friend, my dog and I were camper van travelling around Europe and decided to stop at camping orgiva for a week. Everything was very straight forward, we got a lovely pitch under the olive trees and were in the best site we'd stayed at in our three months so far. The atmosphere was so lovely and communal, we met some amazing people there from all walks of life and the bar/restaurant was a nice place to go in the evening. I was trying to learn Spanish and every time I learnt a little bit more the bar man was so proud of me and congratulated me it encouraged me to learn more and more, such a positive experience. All the staff were amazing, I loved being told 'hola guapa' in the morning when I went to get coffee, and when I said ¡hasta luego! the last day we were there I really meant it! We ended up staying for three weeks and only left as we had to get back to the uk for work, otherwise we could have easily stayed for the winter. It's in a beautiful setting, orgiva is a lovely multicultural town, it's close to all the bigger places like Granada and motril for shopping and to be honest I still wish I was there right now!!!! We made so many great memories here and will see you again soon!!!...
