This is a charming, boutique, family run hotel, perfectly situated to explore the coast, Cantabria and Los Picos National parks. We were very fortunate to stumble upon it when our motor home broke down and we needed somewhere to stay for 5 days. We arrived at very short notice and were very stressed but Alfonso, Rosita and all the staff were extremely sympathetic and helpful. They soothed our nerves , dealt with the garage mechanics on our behalf and organised taxis. Nothing was too much trouble. They were so thoughtful and considerate that they even put us in one of the beautiful garden suites because they were concerned about my mobility issues managing the stairs to the second floor bedroom, but they didn't charge us for the upgrade.||The hotel was virtually full but they kindly accommodated us in various rooms, all of which were to a very high standard. They were all well appointed and spotlessly clean, the beds and pillows were luxurious and the towels soft and fluffy. The balconies are well equipped and spacious.|The breakfasts are absolutely delicious with a vast array of top quality produce on offer. There was always a member of staff to make a cooked breakfast if we wanted. Breakfast was also served late if we wanted , which suited us perfectly. ||The gardens are expansive and tranquil , with streams and many attractive, mature trees. It was a delight to walk around such a beautiful environment. ||Without the help of Alfonso, Rosita and their staff, we would have suffered a disastrous climax to our three week holiday in Northern Spain. In the end we had a month long holiday, the last week of which was made a truly pleasant break in the midst of a crisis.||Thank you! We will visit again and so...
Read moreEl Jardin is located in the small hamlet of Carrejo in Cantabria. It is a lovely old house that has been nicely renovated. It is surrounded by an extensive garden resembling a small park. Tranquillity in abundance.|Our room No 7 was located on the 2nd floor with a lovely view of the gardens. It was a bit small but simply furnished with a reasonable sized bathroom. There is a wonderful lounge/library for guests to sit in or in fine weather there are many chairs on the wraparound porch outside. I was very conscious of the wooden floor & creaky bed so I suspect I sounded like an elephant to the poor guests in the room underneath. The first floor rooms have a lovely big balcony but may suffer from a bit of noise. |Breakfast was surprisingly varied for a small place. Plenty of home made pastries, breads, jams etc together with fresh fruit, cold meats & cheeses. |They also offer a very simple evening dinner to guests at a reasonable price. There is a special of the day & then starters, puds & snacks to complement this. With restaurants not always open in the vicinity I think they could make more of this. |The hosts & staff are all very helpful.|We were made...
Read moreWe stayed at the hotel as a group taking part in the 10000 del Soplao, a local mountain bike and walking challenge. The hotel is charming and is surrounded by extensive gardens with a stream running along one side. We stayed in one of the garden rooms which are about 50 metres from the main house. We were impressed with our room which was spacious with a living room, massive bathroom with jacuzzi style bath and a large and comfortable bed. It was extremely quiet and we slept very well. Breakfast was delicious and we were able to order eggs. The service was excellent and the staff did whatever they could to help us, even collecting my husband and I, late at night from the centre of Cabezon when we were too exhausted to walk back to the hotel after finishing the event. It is the second time we have stayed there it was excellent on both occasions. ||They do offer a light dinner but we found that it was better to walk 3 minutes to the main road where there is a selection of restaurants. A very nice little hotel and we intend to...
