Camping Joan — Hotel in Cambrils

Our first time to Camping Joan and we will be back. We stayed for 8 days in our motorhome. The reception team couldn’t have been any more helpful - especially the blond lady (sorry I didn’t get the name). We had a lovely pitch and the site is so perfect - depending of course what you want. It’s ideally situated for beach lovers and for easy cycling. We only tried the one restaurant at the front gates to the cycle path. Sadly it wasn’t a good experience as there was a private birthday celebration going on and our ‘outside reservation’ was now inside and any extra people seemed to have the kitchen flummoxed. They couldn’t supply a pasta dish - or a garlic cream sauce for the salmon ? Although they could produce a basic dry salmon? Very unusual - the worst part being the wait in-between to be told one wasn’t available and then the other. By the time we’d got served our main course we were well through our very nice bottle of red wine. Our starter of mussels left a bit to be desired too - the mussels being minuscule and the broth quite salty. Sadly there was some miscommunication between languages and the waiter wasn’t the most pleasant when I tried to ask him whether he thought the service was acceptable. We paid the bill and left - leaving a very generous (under the circumstances) 10% service charge! We will give it another go next time we go as it was probably a bad choice of night (lunchtimes seem very busy - there were hardly any other diners in that night). but maybe they shouldn’t be taking reservations if the kitchen isn’t up to managing it ? Drove across France down into Spain to spend 6 nights at camping bungalow Joan, just outside of Cambrils.||We were surprised at how efficient check-in was and the very friendly reception staff, whom provided us with all the information we required for our stay.||Our Motorhome pitch was originally number 710, which unfortunately backed on to the very noisy hotel restaurant behind and this was not very relaxing, around 10.00pm i was hoping the noise would quieten, but this was not the case, I called into reception and asked to be moved to another pitch, that was not possible, but a pitch 3 up from us number 713 would be available the following day. ||We moved the next day and it made a huge difference surprisingly, plus we were no longer overlooked.||The toilet and showers blocks were clean, toilet paper supplied. No extra charge for electric.||You are given waist bands to enter and exit the site for the beach, but most of the time the gates were open||There is a very well stocked supermarket on site, along with a good restaurant and bar.||The swimming pool was quite small and busy, so kept to the beach.||There is nice 40 minute walk along the front into Cambrils, with its shops and restaurants. Idea for early evening as the sun sets.||Port Aventura is around 30 minutes by taxi, there is a free bus 15 minutes walk from the camp site, goes at 09.25. Escribo ésta reseña cuando hace ya casi un año que lo he visitado, si quieres saber por qué, sigue leyendo. Reservamos en pleno verano de 2022, 3 adultos con 2 niños, sin mascotas, en un mobil-home con aire acondicionado, porche, bbq, etc. Al llegar tienes que aparcar fuera para hacer el check-in, te dan folletos informativos de actividades de la zona y el calendario de actividades del camping y club infantil. Todo correcto. Cuando fuimos a aparcar el coche en nuestra plaza habia un olivo pequeñito que me impedía aparcar, asi que me dejaron aparcar a unos metros en un descampado, todo bien. El mobil-home bien, igual que en casi todos los campings de la zona, son todos iguales o muy parecidos, con tele, aire acondicionado, una mesa para comer fuera bajo el porche (importante para no estar a pleno sol), con espacio para que te hagas una bbq, ambiente de barrio de vecinos domingueros, todo bien. Es el mejor camping de cambrils? Pues no los he visto todos pero supongo que va en gustos, es el mas caro? Jeje puede ser que no esté entre los mas baratos... Entonces que lo hace especial? Pues entre otras cosas la ubicación, te dan tu tarjetita del camping, te bajas caminando hasta la salida, abres la valla con tu tarjeta, caminas 3 metros y estas en la fu..ing Playa, no hay que cruzar avenidas, ni calles, solo una peatonal y un carril bici, el mayor peligro es que te atropellen unos turistas holandeses en un tandem. La playa tiene 2 calas, si el agua está revuelta en un lado te vas al otro, si hay mucha gente en un lado te vas al otro, no hay aglomeración, no es la playa mas top de cambrils, no hay peña mangando o si los hay son buenos porque no se ven xD. Mucho mas tranquila que cualquier playa de la pineda, cambrils o salou, porque si caminas unos cientos de metros hacia la derecha ya no hay nada, y lo que viene siendo cambrils pueblo está a unos kms a la izquierda, osea que tranquilidad 100% . El bar tiene salida a la peatonal, terraza, espectaculos en vivo, grupos que vienen a hacer covers, etc. Muy muy bien y los precios not bad. El otro restaurante interior precios super bien, paellas para llevar, comida para llevar en general, pizzas, etc El supermercado, bueno, yo me lleve casi toda la comida de casa y compre ahi el pan y poco mas, pero vi los precios de todo y muy normales. Además tienen tropecientas mil cosas. La piscina es de agua salada, muy interesante, la zona infantil de piscina es pequeña pero suficiente, si bien es verdad que si va todo kiski a la piscina a la vez es un poco agobiante. Tiene bareto en la piscina para hechar unas birras mientras vigilas a los zagales. El miniclub le gustó mucho a la peque, nos costaba levantarla por la mañana para que fuera pero luego se lo pasaba bien, hubo días que habia actividades por la tarde y preferimos quedarnos en el camping en lugar de salir a pasear, de hecho hubo un dia que preferimos volver antes de cambrils pueblo para ver un espectáculo en vivo en el rest. El gimnasio no lo pise asi que no puedo opinar, en la lavanderia hay una biblioteca muy cuca, como punto en contra por poner algo, molaría que en un futuro se curraran un parking interior para dejar el coche dentro cuando vuelves tarde por la noche, otros campings lo tienen y asi el coche se queda dentro del recinto aunque no esté en tu plaza, actualmente si vuelves mas tarde de las 12 tienes que aparcar en la calle, es normal, para no hacer ruido pero no mola dejar el coche en la calle. Y ya está, si has llegado hasta aqui y te has leído este tochaco felicidades xD ya sabes por qué escribo la reseña 1 año después de haber estado, porque si sale todo bien y me cuadran las fechas, a finales de julio estaremos ahi otra vez con la gabachada, y si no pues ajoderse viendo tetasdevieja en la pineda o guiris asandose cual langostinos en la playa del esquirol. Recomendable 100% y no, no me han pagado ni me han regalado nada por escribir la reseña pero si me hacen un descuento no...
