Hotel Castillo Blanco — Hotel in Castilblanco de los Arroyos

I could not have asked for a better experience at Hotel Castillo Blanco. I found myself in the area in a late-night emergency situation, and Brígida was warm and welcoming while helping me get into a room. She waited for me to arrive to the hotel (very late, around 11pm) and provided me with refreshments to take upstairs. In the morning, I arrived in the lobby before the hotel had opened. Brígida, as soon as walking through the door, offered me coffee and breakfast and quickly served it to me. It's worth mentioning that my phone had also broke overnight, and Brígida allowed me to use the hotel phone to make my arrangements to return home.

Brígida, and the staff of Hotel Castillo Blanco, showed me kindness and excellent hospitality. I found my room to be clean, along with the lobby and cafe area. I truly cannot express how wonderfully the staff had treated me during my unexpected stay at the hotel. I would highly recommend staying at Hotel Castillo Blanco if you find yourself in the area. Clearly, it is run by a wonderful staff that will go above and beyond to ensure that you feel welcomed and comfortable. I cannot thank Brígida enough for all that she did...

We stayed here Oct 11 after a long tiring day on the Camino. Our host José María gave us a gorgeous room with a great view back across the oak dehesas. Our pictures don’t do it justice. We had no desire to go into town. We sat on our terraza with a bottle of wine, then went downstairs to the bar and had a pizza José María ordered for us. We had a wonderful conversation with him and his wife - then went back up and got a good night’s sleep. As we were worried about the length of the next day’s hike, he also arranged a taxi to take us early in the morning to the entrance of the Parque Natural de Berrocal. Pues el sitio es majestuoso y tiene un estilo colonial desde la entrada, pero la puerta principal (de cristalera y con cortinas) suele estar cerrada y seguramente tengas que entrar por la puerta de la cafetería (si vas por la tarde) y preguntarle a la camarera, que es muy agradable y de seguro será ella la que te atienda, te dé las llaves y te explique un poco como va todo.

Después, por dentro el edificio tiene una estética muy parecida a la del hotel de la película "The Shining": cafetería con barra de bar y desayunos de madera estilo americano antiguo, cuadros de motivos rurales y mobiliario colonial, sala de estar con piano y sofás de estilo chester, escalinata con baranda de columnas de escayola y pasillos larguísimos con alfombras de estampados y apliques coloniales que combinan muy bien con la decoración general.

Una vez en la habitación, lo bueno fue que daba a la parte de atrás (piscina, parking, granero y campo), tenía un tamaño medio-grande, un balcón que daba buena luz, un armario empotrado amplio de dos puertas de madera y un baño con bañera muy bien dispuesto y preparado.

Lo malo es que las paredes eran muy finas y se escuchaba todo, la cama tenía un somier endeble, la televisión era digital pero desfasada, la luz principal parpadeaba de vez en cuando, uno de los apliques a los lados de la cama no iba y lo peor es que sólo había dos enchufes en toda la habitación: uno donde estaba la televisión y otro en el baño, lo que dificultaba cargar los aparatos electrónicos.

Así que, como sugerencia, a la habilitación le añadiría un par de enchufes más a cada lado de la cama y en la primera planta colocaría una máquina expendedora en la sala de estar para poder consumir algo por la noche sin tener que pedirlo por el teléfono del cuarto o esperar a la mañana siguiente.
