I have to be honest i was disappointed when i arrived at the hotel. the receptionist was very un welcoming, i appreciate that they were having problems with the internet due to the weather conditions but he was quite rude especially when he told me with great indifference that the slopes were closed and would be for the next two days, not the best welcome when we have just arrived and not even given our names yet. The hotel is basic, the lounge comfy seating area is quite small and the bar does not open until 5pm, which when the slopes are closed and you are spending all day in the hotel i thought it was a bit strange we couldn't even get a hot drink. on the plus side the log fire is lovely if you can get close to it.It was after 2pm when we finally got into the room. bunk beds and 2 single beds for the 4 of us. the mattress on the single bed was to big for the bed so if you sat on the end of the bed you fell off. Housekeeping was great we asked them for more pillows which we got within 5 minutes of asking. and the room was clean. Due to the weather the power kept going off which is not the hotels fault but they could have have put candles on the tables especially in the dinning room.||The food was good but unfortunately cold, luckily they had a microwave.||After dinner we went to sit in the lounge but there were 3 families already there which meant there were no seats left so we had to sit in the reception area which was really cold.||All in all not the best hotel but definitely the cheapest option for the area. Value for money but def needs modernizing, a thermostat in the rooms as at night the rooms were so hot it was claustrophobic. And sorry but the staff need to be retrained in customer service. Hotel manger please put no smoking signs in the corridors as someone was definitely smoking something in the corridor...
Read moreWe have been to the hotel each year for a number of years now, so I feel that we can offer a realistic review of how things have been ..and probably what to expect in the near future. There is a lot of margin for improvement and renovation, as far as the building itself goes. We have not been able to observe any reform works in the last 5 years and given the current trend, there isn't much chance of things improving, Bare that in mind if you are looking for an up to date place to stay. On the other hand the staff, particularly at the restaurant/bar are 5 star all the way. Mot sure how much they are getting paid, but the way they attend you are way above anything we have seen in a long time here in Spain. Now for the highlight - and the main reason we would entertain to come back : Ringo. He is the hotel cat, with an outside house and an inside armchair, If you hate cats, stop reading now and curl up in a dark corner. If, on the other hand, you like animals..well, this is the place to go. The amount of people taking photos of Ringo..or Ringo with kids..or Ringo with influencers..or Ringo with (insert name here) are simply amazing... if ever there was a feline star at Sierra Nevada - this is it ! I am fully able to forgive all shortcomings, like the central heating not working in the first night ( an electric radiator was provided immediately and not removed even after the heating went back to normal on the second night..), or the lack of water pressure at the bathroom tap (the shower worked perfectly though..)...all for the sake of that cat....
Read moreI stayed at this hotel at the recommendation of a local because he claimed the dinner was very good and it was convenient for the skiing. I thought it was okay, the place was painfully dated, it was as if it didn't have any renovations done to it since the 1980s or so. My friend thought the dinner was good and that was probably the highlight of our stay - there's much variety and we spent a long time in the dining room enjoying the dinner. The breakfast was excellent too. But the rooms were cold, good grief: it was snowing outside and the tiled floors felt icy. The place was noisy - loads of inconsiderate tourists making a lot of noise in the corridor waking you up in the middle of the night, doors slamming - some people can sleep through an earthquake and that wouldn't bother them but it certainly disturbed my sleep. Apart from dining, there's nothing to do at night - there is a sauna but they charge 5 euros per person. You may wanna get an early night if you're skiing, but good grief. the noise situation renders that impossible. Oh and the wifi was so slow. Ouch. ||||All in all, it was a disappointing experience. I would not return and I don't recommend this place -...
