I simply cannot understand how this hotel is #2 on Trip Advisor. We were booked in for 2 nights as part of a self-guided trekking tour of La Gomera. We arrived about 4pm and there wasn’t a single member of staff anywhere to be seen. One of the other guests pointed at the front door which is where our room key was - in an A4 envelope sellotaped to the door! It was also pointed out to us that the hotel did not serve dinner which is disappointing as it is up a steep hill in the middle of Hermigua. The rooms are clean but quite small and there is no WiFi in the rooms, you have to go back downstairs or lean out the window! At breakfast, which is self-service with no additional options (omelette, scrambled eggs etc.) we briefly met a member of staff who asked for our room number and then disappeared. It’s worth pointing out as well that this was the only hotel on our entire trip that didn’t offer fresh coffee - it was the instant stuff in a flask that you get in business meetings. The second day was exactly the same - no dinner in the dining room and a fleeting visit from the same gentleman at breakfast asking for our room number. There was never anyone on reception or anyone to ask questions or restaurant recommendations. We were lucky as we’d booked transfers but I don’t know how anyone would book a taxi. Also, bear in mind the hotel is up a steep hill off the main street so probably not recommended if you have...
Read moreHard to praise Isabel, the hotel manager, highly enough. We were the last guests to leave on the 20th March 2020. All of Spain was on lockdown from, effectively, the 15th. The breakfasts were indeed excellent, as everyone says, but this is about what happened when things got tough. Our flight back was the 20th, and Jet2 (who also responded wonderfully in our experience) kept to the schedule, flying from Tenerife South to Leeds Bradford at 20:10. We'd booked on a Fred Olsen ferry, which disappeared off the schedule on about the 16th, without telling us. Isabel re-booked us on an early one (Spanish website, tricky for us!). She then rang round all the restaurants in Hermigua, and got a solitary one (Cafeteria Garo) to provide takeways; all the rest closed completely. By the 18th and 19th I think he was just cooking for me and my wife. Our hire car had an engine fault - Isabel sorted us with a Plan B to get to the crack-of-dawn ferry. There was a huge picnic waiting for us in the fridge at 6 am, which fed us during the 10 hour wait at the airport. ||Maybe there should be a six-star rating available? Isabel (and Jana)...
Read moreBecause of a cancelled Airbnb we had to look for a place to stay for a place to stay for 3 nights (it was already 7pm) in Hermigua. By googling we found this little hotel and found out that there should be one room left. Arriving at the hotel, the lady of the staff was very friendly and helpful. Finally we’ve got our place to stay and after all this place is far more better than the Airbnb where we should stay before. Very clean and cozy hotel with amazing view. Perfect bed and all the amenities you need. Not the mass tourism formula. Highly recommended! We definitely...
