I was pretty much confined to my room from the third day of a highly anticipated week of winter sunshine as I cannot stray too far from the toilet.
We booked a half-board stay and all my meals were from the hotel restaurant, so whatever vicious stomach bug/ strain of food poisoning I picked up cannot have originated from anywhere else.
The restaurant is so poorly managed that it's no surprise there are possibly compromises with food hygiene.
One night we saw a lone waiter struggling to serve the entire restaurant with no help, other evenings items such as bread were included in our 'set menu' other days there was a surcharge.
A waiter knocked over a bottle of wine on our table, gave a shrug of the shoulders apology and only when challenged agreed to reduce the cost of the bottle by two Euros.
My wife asked if a dish is vegetarian and told it is, when it arrived it was full of meat. This is probably a Spanish/English language mix-up but at no time was there an offer to deduct this from the bill.
Often food arrived lukewarm, we heard other guests complain about this to the staff.
The hotel is set in stunning location, but almost everything else is really very poor, including sporadic periods without hot water and nowhere to dry towels inside the room . The reception staff were very helpful trying to find a pharmacy in the area that was open a Sunday so we could purchase some Immodium, but again perhaps a more professionally managed hotel would have prepared sufficiently to have this information at their fingertips.
On return to the UK I wrote to Hoteles Poseidon’s commercial director, who promised that the hotel manager would contact me directly. I have yet to hear anything.
It gives me no pleasure to leave such a negative review, but this has been the most...
Read moreAvoid this hotel if you value respect or accessibility for disabled people or people with reduced mobility.
Misleading, Inaccessible, and Absolutely Unacceptable!
I booked a 3-night stay through Booking.com as a Genius Level 3 customer. The photos looked inviting, the reviews were solid but what followed was a shocking reality check.
This hotel offers absolutely NO access for disabled guests or anyone with limited mobility. No elevators, no ramps, just massive stairs everywhere. It’s not just inconvenient; it’s dangerous. Worse, none of this was disclosed on either the hotel’s website or Booking.com.
I specifically requested at check in at the hotel, a ground-floor room due to my mobility concerns. Despite having prepaid in full, the reception staff refused and even smirked when I asked Iris and Ruben at reception desk to cancel the last two nights of my stay for medical reasons. “NOT possible and NOT refundable,” they said.
Their attitude was dismissive and borderline mocking. I asked to speak to a manager, no one was available. Only for the manager's business card when checking out disgusted and angry the next morning. Just a wall of indifference.
Booking.com’s so-called "concierge service"? A joke. Generic responses, no action, and no support. They failed completely to advocate for me as a loyal customer.
€374 gone, no refund, no resolution, and no accountability.
If you have any mobility issues or simply expect basic human decency towards your disability, stay away.
