We have just returned from a holiday in Andalucía as a family of 5 with 2 teenagers , we started our holiday with Rachel and clay in el pilar and I’m so glad we did . We stayed for 2 nights on our way up to the mountains and it was the perfect way to start as I was looking for something a bit different . The drive from Almeria was spectacular and the house had been lovingly restored is beautiful , calm and peaceful. We had the family room which was perfect for us and 3 boys . Both Rachel and clay were so friendly and welcoming and made us feel so at home . Clay cooked some delicious pizzas in his oven for the boys and got them to help make them - they loved it . On the second night he made an amazing paella . Both were enjoyed on the lovely terrace under a vine sipping tinto de verrano ( the local sangria ) We visited nearby Lubrín which has a lovely pool and reasonable tapas bar which the boys loved . Rachel prepares a great and plentiful breakfast as well with fruit , pastries , yoghurt, cheese , ham etc - It really was a special way to start our holiday and I’m so glad I find Casona Granadaand to have met Rachel and Clayton , highly recommend even for a family if passing through . Also not far from the coast ( 45 mins ) and plentiful beaches...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I decided to visit this part of Spain primarily because we had read about this unique little hotel, and we’re very glad that we made that decision.
This was the first time in Spain for both of us, and staying in a rural village with a population of around 50 people was a great introduction to the country.
Our room was spacious and charming, the hotel was very well maintained and the food in the restaurant was consistently excellent and great value for money.
But more than anything, it’s the people at Casona Granado that made the biggest positive impact on our stay. Rachel, Clayton and Amanda (as well as the rest of the team) were extremely accommodating, hospitable, friendly and really took the time to get to know us and make our stay a wonderful one. Clayton even took us out for dinner at a local bar which was very much off the beaten tourist track that was probably the most memorable meal we had during our three and a half week holiday.
We really can’t recommend this hotel enough. If you are looking for a unique stay in the Southern Spain that will stay with you for a long time after you’ve left, then do yourself a favour and make a...
Read moreWhat a find , this is a gem of a place! we would return in a heartbeat. ! We booked to stay as a family of 3 and had the most incredible stay at this stunning boutique hotel. Our family room was beautifully decorated, spacious and provided super air con with a fabulous balcony overlooking stunning views. Every part of the hotel is a feast for the eyes, superbly decorated with quirky/modern and traditional local pieces. The pool and jacuzzi were fantastic to relax/unwind and rest from the heat. Hosts Rachel and Clay are just brilliant! , warm and welcoming from start to finish. They have excellent local knowledge of the area which was so useful. The food is amazing and brilliant wine choice! Every day we looked forward to breakfast, a delight in the charming oasis outside. Amongst other delightful meals, the wood fired pizza was a triumph, only wish we could have eaten more! How will pizza ever taste the same again !We will be back for sure, thank you...
