Need more stars!! We've done a fair amount of traveling, and truly have never had a host that went to the lengths that Juanfri did to make our stay enjoyable. We just moved from the US to Malaga, and used this property as a short term stay while looking for a long term rental. Not only was the location on the beach wonderful, but the apartment was exceptionally clean, thoughtfully updated, and well appointed (we stayed on the top floor - smallest of the units for rent, but still very pleasant and comfortable). Plenty of great eating choices within walking distance, and Malaga historic center is easily accessed by car or bus, or rent a bike or walk along the Paseo Maritime for those with more time and energy.
Two examples of Juanfri's dedication to his guests experience: At one point, we lost electricity in the apartment. All breakers off and wouldn't reset. Juanfri and his team were there in minutes and methodically determined the source of the problem to be the solar water heater on the roof. They temporarily bypassed that to restore power to the rest of the apartment, and Juanfri had a technician from the solar company out a few hours later that same day to finish the repair.
Second example. Juanfri knew we were looking for long term rentals, and advised us and helped line up potential rentals. He even offered to drive us and accompanied us to one of our real estate appointments. And then refused any compensation for his time and fuel. Amazing, right?
In addition, Juanfri kept us well informed via WhatsApp from the moment we booked the initial reservation. We did have to make changes to our dates several times due to our own changing circumstances, and he was extremely accommodating with all of these, as well as offering suggestions. He picked us up from the train station and transported us, our two dogs, and six pieces of luggage to the apartment, even helping us lug the heavy suitcases up the stairs to the top floor apartment!
We ended up relocating about a half hour away from El Palo, but we will absolutely be renting from Juanfri in the future whenever we want some time at the beach, and we're eager to share the experience with family and friends since there are 3 units to choose from and each one...
Read moreOnce again we had another fantastic stay at Juan’s place. The apartment is as described in the ad and the pictures, it’s clean, and everything is of very good quality, cutlery, dishes, pots and pans, and the internet is very strong. The bed is excellent, and the mattress provides a good night’s sleep. Apartment is fully air conditioned. The terrace is large and allows for outside dining if you want. The apartment is about 80m from the beach, you go out the front, cross the little road and you are there. If you go left or right, there are small restaurants and bars. Our favourite bar was to the left leave the apartment, you go over the bridge and it’s the first on the left. If you want to go into town, you go two road back where bus, 3, 8 or 11 will take you into town. The cost is €1.40 or you can buy a pass from the tabac for about 6 euro which gives you 10 journeys. Check google as there are good supermarkets nearby where you can get everything you need, if like us you are staying for the while and don’t want the expense of eating out every night. Should you have questions while staying at the apartment Juan responds quickly to messages. Uber from the airport is about €24. This place is a hidden gem and I cannot recommend it...
Read moreCasa Tia Antonia is a home away from home in El Palo. To begin, the location and view are unbeatable. Located in a quieter part of El Palo, and situated close to amazing restaurants, it was perfect. We stayed in the ground level apartment, which provided us with breathtaking morning and evening views, and shade from the powerful sun. Sitting on the patio, made us feel very much part of a neighborhood, a genuine Spanish community. The apartment was spotless, well equipped, and the beds so very comfortable. Smiles are abundant in El Palo, and smiles begin with the owners, Juan and Carlos, who are always available, always have time for a warm hello, or to offer kind and helpful words. Jose and Lola, who are also family, live a few doors away, and are a warm extension of Juan and Carlos' generosity and spirit. We departed feeling like family, and will always be available to return the hospitality to Juan and Carlos, should they ever again venture to New York. Thank you, Juan and Carlos, for a wonderful 9 nights in El Palo in Casa...
