I want to begin by saying that the fresh fish was perfectly cooked, tender, and delicious. The best compliment I can give it is that I did NOT even think about adding salt to it at any point.

However, the waiters (or one in particular) can be a little pushy with the upsells. I barely sat down and I was introduced to which fish I was to eat. I was not offered a menu until I asked twice, and was instead kept being shown this one fish that would have been perfect for me. Needless to say that was the most expensive choice.

In the end, I ordered two half portion starters. The fresh anchovies and the Málaga salad which were quite tasty and quick to arrive. For the main dish I wanted swordfish which the waiter said they did not have at the time, so I ended up ordering one of the display fish, a red snapper. After another attempt to sell me the more expensive choice, the waiter decided to let me choose my own fish :))

The bill came to 53€ which was MUCH more than I expected to pay for a night out for a single person for 2 starters, a main, and a glass of beer. Having said that, I left the restaurant with a belly filled with good food, so decided to write this off as a treat for myself, and justified the rest of the cost as the table service show where the waiter cleaned the fish in front of me.

As for the atmosphere, this was late at night so it was quite both in the restaurant and out in the streets. Can't...

Gave the benefit of the doubt deapite some mixed reviews. Sat down and the hard sell began, no menu offered and tried to steer us towards the fish specials. I get this is profitable for them but I like a choice. Insisted on a menu, whilst looking it over 2 unasked for and stale bread rolls were plonked on the table, shortly thereafter followed by some unasked for sardines. As these were going to be included in my order anyway I didn't overly mind, however had I not been going to order I would have left at this point. Foodwise, sardines were great as was my octopus, less great were my partners meatballs which arrived stone cold. Sent them back and they were duly returned to us after a quick blast in the microwave which also appeared to have reduced the portion size somewhat given there was less on the plate when it was returned to us. Sat beside the fish display as we were they looked a bit dull eyed and rigid, never a good sign. All in all a disappointing experience that left me wishing we had eaten at the previous establishment we were sat in, and my partner with a dodgy stomach courtesy of poorly...

⚠️AVOID, IT’S A TOURIST RIPOFF!⚠️ The server seemed nice and the prices at the entrance were reasonable. He showed me what kind of fish they have, I decided to get prawns. He said one portion is good for a starter, it has 6 pieces and cost 6 euros. The taste was below average. At the end, they billed me 36 euros for the prawns only, and 13 euros for a small bottle of water, a glass of wine and for a mixed salad that tasted awful (I did not eat it). So I ended up paying 50 euros for something that didn’t taste good in a place where you sit on cheap plastic chairs. I wouldn’t mind to pay this amount if the food and the atmosphere is great, but this was clearly a ripoff. I am visiting Malaga quite often, had many great dinners in exceptional places in the center and other beach areas, in quite touristy places. Compared to this place which is very remote, I never had such a bad culinary experience and such dishonesty....

I went there after reading lots of good reviews. For starter the food is of course good but nothing exceptional that you won't get in Malaga. It is very far from Malaga. For me it was not worth taking the trip. In a place where all the restaurant staffs are all very courteous and smiling this place sticks odd. The waiter was trying to sell me everything as fresh while I saw them few things from my order pull out of the freezer and it definitely did not taste fresh. I also don't like the 10% tip automatically added to the bill. Please note that this place is not cheap either (or maybe I was only English speaking there so they had different prices for me). Overall I think I this place is just riding on its Previous glory and not worth it anymore. If you want fresh seafood go to the Malaga mercado, it is cheaper and far closer than this place.

Mixed Feelings: A Brief Review of Restaurante Antonio in Pedregalejo, Malaga Nestled on Pedregalejo’s picturesque Strand, this seafood restaurant promises a traditional dining experience in Malaga’s former fishing village. With dishes cooked over an open log fire, it attracts a local crowd seeking authentic fare. I sampled grilled sardines, langoustines, and pimento—a flavorful blend of cooked red pepper with onions and herbs. However, disappointment arose when the langoustines were found raw inside. Despite raising the issue, the servers’ reluctance to address it detracted from the overall experience. While rustic charm is appreciated, the establishment falls short in meeting expected standards of quality and service.
