We spent two nights in October at Son Mas’ (4) in Porto Cristo and we were all in all disappointed.||- a few positive points :||. Beautiful finca, nicely renovated , huge volumes, smart decoration,||. Peaceful remote countryside.||- many weak points :||. Poor privacy||The TV of our neighbor was on from the afternoon until late at night during all our stay. It spoiled all the character of the (large and nice) room. We asked for quietness and did not expect such a poor quality of sound isolation. We could also hear the footsteps of the occupants of the rooms in the upper level.||. indoor swimming pool not heated as boasted on the website (and that for 3 days).||It was one of our criteria to prefer this finca to another one in the area.||. No path to walk a little bit in this huge property in the middle of nothing : this is really a pity because the agricultural land around is gorgeous but nothing is arranged to facilitate the discovery for those who want to learn a little bit about the daily life and the development projects of this very interesting area.||. Bad and expensive (15 €/ person) lunch.|| We requested in advance for having an early lunch before our departure. Nothing had been really prepared and no cook at this time . We had a salad (1/4 avocado, a few small tomatoes, many green leaves) and 45 minutes later (why?) tortillas from the breakfast that were not enough for two of us.||. Toilet of the restaurant : I do not describe….||. ||Finca Hotel Son Mas knows how to build a website with nice photos suggesting an exclusive and authentic experience, and charge accordingly. However the customer experience is far from this 4, and the care of the staff is rather impersonal .||Just before we had a longer stay at another 4*Finca in Soller, which was far better...

Read moreFrom meeting Ingmar at reception right through to the check out it was a wonderful stay. My wife and I use this type of boutique hotel all the time as our preference and Son Mas is up with the best of them. A huge junior suite as standard, massive comfy bed, and tremendous grounds give the feeling of space and quiet. Lovely staff (big hello to Ingmar, Cynthia and Mercedes). Breakfast; as ample and varied as one would expect at a good hotel and the cooked-to-order part was done very well, every single day. Dinner; We took the half board, but be warned, do not have snacks before dinner because the portions are huge. We are proper foodies, and comfortably rated the cooking as good bistro standard with a touch of flair. The wine list is very well priced indeed but the by-the-glass options are too limited. Grounds; very open, very calm and superbly kept. It's a beautiful place to walk around and the farmhouse main building is spotless, elegant and inviting. After dinner coffee in the stone tunnel lounge is just what you need. COVID; well done one and all, perfect. Obligatory mask wearing by all staff inside was observed without fuss and guests were asked to wear a mask inside and almost everyone did so. My wife is in the 'clinically extremely vulnerable' group and we both felt totally at ease. Beaches; so close and easy to get to, all of them with ample parking, at least at this time of year (1st week October). Brilliant weather too, 25 in the day, cooler at night to sleep. We are looking at going back next October instead of our usual trip to the Caribbean, it was that lovely and we'll be making Son Mas our base for a couple of weeks. So easy, 8 hours hotel door to North London home door!! Tip; be sure...
