While walking on the Camino (French Way) we arrived in O Cebreiro and contacted Miguel (owner) as arranged by our travel company (Camino Ways). He arrived in to pick us up without delay. We had a lovely drive out to his albergue which he runs with his partner (Angela) in the fabulous farming village of Fonfría. On the way Miguel told us his really interesting story about moving away from farming to starting up his tourism business. The accommodation is very good; we stayed in separate bedrooms each with its own bathroom. There was a slight delay with our luggage arriving but both Miguel and Angela were really helpful in contacting the transporter and bring the bags to our rooms when they arrived. We got a chance to meet up with an eclectic mix of pilgrims from all over the world and in particular we enjoyed having dinner with all these people in the 'palloza'. Also we must mention the wonderful massage that we had from Michaela which eased our aching legs after our long walk. Dinner and breakfast were great and in particular we enjoyed the scrambled eggs for breakfast with local cheese and honey - delicious. Overall a very enjoyable and memorable experience with Miguel...

Had my worst stay on the Camino here. I had booked a superior room but was unknowingly switched to the apartment when I checked in. Once I was finally able to get on wifi (which was terrible and didn't work in the room) and confirmed my actual reservation, the host insisted it was the same and he already gave my room to someone else. ||The apartment was dirty. Multiple hairs in the bed and sinks and clumps of hair in the bathroom. When I brought this to their attention, they did apologize and immediately changed the sheets which looked much cleaner.||There was a horrible sewage smell in the building entrance that permeated into the apartment. I tried airing it out but eventually had to keep the window open all night which kept things cold.||The superior room I reserved had SmartTV. The apartment does not and the wifi didn't work. There was a Nespresso but no coffee pods. The fridge was so warm that it would not be safe to store food.||I did speak with other guests who had positive experiences. Perhaps if I wasn't given a bait and switch, I could...

The hosts have worked hard to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. From the moment you check in you are cared for. I’ve had a foot issue since renscevalles and Lola offered me ice without me even having to ask. The albergue bunks are sturdy with privacy dividers. Individual plugs and shelves are a pilgrims luxury. The showers have little cupboards to keep things dry. Cotton sheets and blankets are provided too. Things that make you feel truly cared for. The food at the bar/cafe is reasonably priced. Heaps of laundry hanging space and lots of lovely places to sit and relax. The optional dinner was excellent. Loved staying here.

Wow!!! Greeted and registered quickly, beautiful room and private bathroom, bar is open until 10pm so you can eat and drink while laundering your clothing either in the auto service laundry for just a few Euro, lots of drying lines and 2 wash basins if you choose to wash by hand. Cozy beds and the communal dinner started with a lovely soup and fresh bread, followed by rice and a meat dish (they offered vegetarian meals for those desiring that) and a yummy tasty fresh cake for dessert. Who could ask for more for €13 dinner. I’m sure breakfast will be equally as good. The price for a private room with bath was WELL WORTH IT!! 😊

One of my favourite albergues on the French Camino. The bunk rooms were big and toilets and showers adjacent. Miguel and Lola are very warm and inviting as well as attentive to your needs. The communal dinner was a great social experience with singing and dancing thrown in for good measure. There are plenty of couches etc to stretch out on, and while there you must try the local cheese infused with chestnuts and smothered in honey
