Posada Sotobosque — Hotel in Piélagos

The hotel is located in a beautiful area and has a huge garden and some nice outdoor spaces for sitting outside (when we were there in October it was a bit cold for that). ||The rooms are very clean and decorated nicely, and there is a good heating system that even runs in the bathroom! the views from the windows are also very nice. ||The best part was the breakfast, there where many different types of food and not just the sandwiches and potato omelet that are usually offered as breakfast in Spain. The food was very good. It is nice to have a breakfast with no extra charge because in some hotels we were in the price of the breakfast was very high. ||The staff speaks good English which is a big plus for those of us who are not Spanish speakers. ||This is a great hotel to stay in if you are looking to relax for a couple of days in a nice area. There are some nice places around the area like the beach or Santander, that with a car are not more than 15 minutes away. Habiamos reservado una habitación para pasar el puente del Pilar, desde 12 al 15 de Octubre, porque buscabamos un hospedaje que nos ofreciera algo diferente a un hotel, en el campo, rodeados de naturaleza, paz y tranquilidad y esta posada parecía tenerlo todo.|Llegamos con mucha ilusión. Nos atendió Robero, y todo parecía correcto hasta que nos dieron la habitacion.|la 206, para ser exactos. Roberto no nos acompañó, era tarde.|Al entrar y encender la luz, ya nos sorprendió para peor, el tamaño tan pequeño de la misma. |Una vez que dejamos la maleta y ojeamos por encima, ya notamos primeramente la cantidad de manchas de humedad y deconchamiento de pintura que habia en el techo.|empezamos a ver que la humedad no se había quedado solo ahí, sino que también estaba presente dentro del armario, con un olor horrible a moho, y la madera humedecida y deconchada. (no se podía colgar nada)|Los zocalos de madera estaban sueltos y podridos por la humedad, los quinques de las mesillas y las lamparas metálicas estaba llenísimas de oxido y la barra de la cortina lo mismo. Detras de la cortina caían un chorreton de casi un metro de oxido por la pared y olía mucho a humedad.|En el baño, de tamaño pequeño, y sin vidé, todas las barras para colgar las toallas estaban oxidadas y el agua caliente tardaba unos 5 minutos en salir y con muy poca fuerza. |En resumidas cuentas una habitación que ni en un hostal de mala muerte de carretera.|Sin dar crédito a lo que estabamos viendo, bajamos a hablar con Roberto, para preguntarle por la habitación y si sabía que estaba así de mal, a lo que contesta que no puede hacer nada, que no tiene mas habitaciones y que, SÍ QUE SABÍA QUE ESTABA ASÍ, PORQUE TUVIERON UNOS PROBLEMAS DE ROTURA DE TUBERIAS,!!!! |Nosotros le comentamos que el problema de tuverias no era reciente, poreque tanto la humedad como el óxido no salen de un dia para otro, y el se limitó a decir que si no la queríamos que entendía que nos fuesemos pero que nos cobraba la noche.|Muy enfadados nos fuimos a cenar y al día siguiente despues de desayunar nos fuimos.|UNA VERGÜENZA.| ARREGLEN LA HABITACIÓN YA. y sino pueden no la oferten.|no cogais la habitación 206|Por cierto, viendo las fotos que ponen otros huéspedes, se ve que los hay...

We booked this as an overnight before getting the ferry back to the UK. For some reason, decent hotels in Santander seemed tricky. Booked this on the strength of the reviews here and so glad we did. The owner went out of his way to make us feel welcome and special. The garden was perfect for the dog to run around. The room was enormous, almost like an apartment. We were in Room 9. I was expecting dinner to be a simple affair but it turned out to the one of the best meals we had our entire trip. And don't even get me started on the breakfasts.
