I have visited Canary Islands almost ten times but this is the first time at Playitas Resort, but probably not the last one.
Hotel area is huge and mainly very well taken care, so it is easy to eyes. Lot of very well maintained plants. Generally, the scenery gives you good fibes. Compination of nice hotel area surrounded by nice beach and nice looking golf field is jackpot.
There is free Internet for Playitas Resort customers. The wifi actually work very well and coverage is great. Practically, the wifi works very well in the room, restaurants, gym, outside areas and most of the beach. This is very exceptional for Canary Island hotels.Great job Playitas Resort!
Beach is nice, clean dark sand. Water gets deep quite fast so maybe not the greatest for small children but good for adult swimmers. Small stones at waterline. Stones are round and doesn't hurt your feet. Anyway, there is two good looking pools (but cold water) for children in addition of 50m olympic pool (warm water). Seats at the pools seem to be full most of the the time. There is no seats at the beach, but I am sure that the seats would ruin the beatiful beach scenery!
Hotel staff is generally very responsive and honestly trying to their best, which is very nice feature. This is not the case in every hotel I have stayed. So I wish all the best to Playitas Resort staff and keep up the good work!
Lot of sport oppoturnities, but mainly aimed for triathlonist (swimming, running, cycling) thus the gym lack some basic equipment for serious strength training. The gym is labeled as fitness center and it is already a telltale. The gym will serve amateurs and endurance sports enthuastics who doesn't require professional level strength training.
Honestly, it looks like the guy responsible for the gym doesn't really know much about training and has been randomly buying equipment. Should have low cable row and lat pulldown, instead of two biceps equipments. Anyway, at least there is four platforms for olympic lifting, deadlifting and squats, which is really good! Some of the bars are bend and bearings are really in bad shape, so olympic weigth lifting may suffer a bit, but there is also some good bars. Most of the people will be happy for this gym and it is far better than any other hotel gym I have seen.
There is stretching and recovery work area with foam rollers. Only really strange thing is that gym is closed 13:00 - 15:00 and every time they are closing there is more than ten persons who would like to keep training (I counted!).
Yoga class only at 10:00 or 11:00 and cost is 7.5€. I would have really liked free fifteen min or half hour morning yoga at early on the morning to start your day and maybe half hour in the evening to get you ready dor the night's rest. At home, the local gym offers morning yoga before work and is super good and very popular as is the evening late after training yoga (to relax and prepare you to get good sleep)
Breakfast is good value for money, lunch maybe not so much since drinks (not even water) are not included. Anyway, this is (drinks not included) clearly said in all brochures and information, thus plus points for honesty. Dinner seems to be quite good, fresh tuna is cooked on the spot and so on. One of the best hotel food I have had, and best food for the given price. Some might say that some meats, especially chicken is tasteless, but I think it is the Spanish way of cooking not to ruin the (great) taste of meat with large amount of spices. I personally like this approach.
Rooms are quite nice, even in the Annex, no experience from other hotel rooms. Beds are better than average but not luxurius. Anyway, I have problems sleeping in many hotels but this hotel I got good sleep. Good job Playitas Resort!
Cleaning of the rooms is done five times a week and it is good, no problems there. Many thanks to polite and hard working cleaning staff.
The kitchen stuff is little bit lacking but one can manage and hotel will probably provide some stuff if asked, as they are generally very responsive.
Great job team...
Read moreWe booked this last minute and we were very lucky. We wanted a place to relax but with the options to undertake a wide range of sports and activities. The resort has a hotel, an aparthotel block and about 20+ villas.||||We were very pleased with our villa. It had 2 large bedrooms with king-sized, comfortable beds (sprung mattresses with a decent topper) and large ensuite bathrooms. There is also a third shower/toilet room which was handy for nipping in and out of when eating or playing in the pool. The pool itself was 4-5m long and about 120cm deep. It was prefect for our 8 and 12 year old and we were happy with it too. The kitchen dining room was good and there was a washing machine/ tumble drier in a utility room that had a large cupboard for dry foodstuffs. ||||The HiperDino in Gran Tarajal is about 10 minutes car ride away with a taxi costing 8.5 euros each way ( the staff at the supermarket will call a return taxi for you) and is the cheapest source of food with a great range of options. Las Playitas town is about a 1.2 km walk from the villas and has a Spar with a good range of meat/fish and Veg. The onsite supermarket is very handy for water (the resort water is desalinated and we are told that it is safe but the locals drink bottled water) and bread but quite pricey.||||We had a routine where we had breakfast at the villa then either lunch or dinner at the resort or in Las Playitas itself. Victor's and La Playas in the village were excellent with great lasagne options at Victor's please our very fussy 12 year old. I would recommend the fish. The beach cafe and the 2 onsite restaurants (Spanish and Italian) were very good and had excellent staff. The bars near the pool were also excellent with good food, excellent smoothies and a range of ice creams. I would recommend going to the BBQ night and the Pizza night at the resort restaurants for good value meals. Our average spend for an evening meal for a family with at least a main course and dessert together with wine and soft drinks was 75-85 Euros at all the venues (including the village). This is not a cheap place but the quality was good and we did a lot of self-catering over our 11 day stay.||||The activités were very well run and enjoyable.. There are Yoga and Crossfit-type sessions every day together with aqua aerobics and bootcamp type classes. Our 12 year old had a six day course of Tennis lessons and my wife and younger child had one-to-one swimming lessons. These were extra costs but well worth it. ||||Surfing courses required a 45 min trip to the west side of the island - we didn't bother as we had plenty to do where we were. The other guests were running, cycling and just enjoying themselves without causing any bother to others. ||||We would do this type of...

Yes!|Is there room for improvement? Plenty!||First and foremost, I find it both challenging (and frankly stupid!!) that you have to pay extra for a range of things that really should be included in the price at a sports resort.|You have to pay to rent courts for padel, tennis, and pickleball.|You have to pay for spinning and many types of crossfit.|That should be included in the price.|On top of that, there’s an antiquated system where you have to physically stand in line for quite a while just to book classes. That could easily be improved in 2025.||Many activities take place under the blazing sun – only the instructors are shaded – it would be fairly simple to put up a few large sun sails so parts of the areas were in shade.||The restaurants were a chapter of their own.|Overall, the food was good with decent variety. Options for both healthy dishes and more indulgent holiday food!|But…|The service was downright hopeless. It took ages from when you sat down at a table until someone came to take your drink order. It took even longer for the drinks to actually arrive – and several times they only showed up after we reminded them! We also got served the wrong wine a couple of times.|The restaurant ran out of cutlery.|Clean plates were often not tha clean!|The dishes at the buffet were often left empty without being refilled, and several times we experienced many dishes being “sold out” if you came during the second half of the opening hours.|That’s not good enough!||By the pool, it was the Wild West – sunbeds were “reserved” with towels all day without anyone using them, so often you couldn’t get a spot! If you wanted a drink by the pool, you were “ripped off” for an extra €1 for a plastic cup – and the drinks weren’t cheap to begin with! (And again, the waiting time at the bar from ordering to actually getting your drink was hopeless!)||We’ve previously been to La Santa Sports, which clearly outperforms Playitas. Almost all activities are included, classes are booked via an app, and overall the service level is much higher!|Here, we got the clear impression that it was more about squeezing as much money as possible out...
