Cava & Hotel Mastinell — Hotel in Vilafranca del Penedès

A truly uniquely designed hotel with excellent service!

This is a gem of a discovery - truly uniquely designed hotel (emulates the sinuous form of cava bottles) with it's own vineyards and only 13 exclusive rooms (see my attached photos). Amazing views of the surrounding vineyards and wineries.

The quality of service from all the people we met has been brilliant! My wife and I prefer unique hotels as compared to boring chain hotels because the former always provides a more personal touch to its service.

The room (Xarello) was spacious and nicely decorated and had everything we needed with air con, cooler, a complimentary bottle of cava, sweets and nice toiletries. The bed was Queen size and very comfortable. The bathroom had a bath with waterfall shower and very clean. The window overlooking the vineyards was our favourite part.

The food and the wine in the restaurant were first class, and the breakfast was truly a joyful experience.

The winery tour and wine tasting was great and helped us improve our understanding of cava and wines. Our extremely knowledgeable guide did an excellent job to explain on a funny way how all their products are made.

I recommend renting an electric bike and explore the surrounding area.

In summary, The Cava & Hotel Mastinell is a very well-run hotel offering a very high standard of quality and service. I chose this hotel based on all the good Tripadvisor reviews and was not disappointed! We loved every moment of our stay and would highly recommend this place.

We went there as one of our overnight stays for our trip in Catalonia. The welcome was very personal and super kind. We we're offered and exquisite (and refillable!) glass of cava and some croissants while we waited for our room ye be ready. The room had a super cool design with a nice and unique overlook on the vineyards. Very romantic vibe as well, so definitely very suitable for couples.

Definitely the highlight of our stay was the premium wine tour, in English. It was just me and my girlfriend so the tour was very personal and we had time to ask everything we wanted. Caroll did a great job explaining the wines we tasted and we also had a nice little cheese and meats board.

Unfortunately, I had food poisoning a few days earlier so I wasn't 100% at ease during the stay. That's why we also didn't have dinner at their restaurant because I was afraid my stomach would annoy me again.

But, we'll definitely be back again. Upon departure, the front desk was so kind to give us some water bottles and offered us a lot of options if we wanted to come back again. But what truly left us speechless was the gastronomic experience. The 8-course tasting menu, expertly paired with Mastinell wines and cavas, transported us to a world of exquisite flavors and perfect harmonies. Each dish was a culinary masterpiece, crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients.

The staff, moreover, deserve a special mention. Their impeccable attention and passion for their work were reflected in every detail, from the service in the restaurant to the recommendations for local activities.
