Galle Wonvil Rooms and Apartment — Hotel in Galle

I initially booked a family room for Rs. 8700/-, but later I was informed that it was no longer available. The owner then offered me another family room, which he said was more comfortable, for Rs. 10,500/-. I agreed and paid an advance. However, upon arrival, the owner immediately asked for my NIC and the balance payment – even before we had a chance to put down our bags. I have never experienced anything like that before.

The room and bathroom were very clean, and there were two double beds, but only with fitted sheets. When we asked if we could have top sheets, the owner refused.

Two towels and hot water were available, but there was no toilet paper and not even a bottle of water provided. When I asked about these, he told me that if I paid another Rs. 12,000/-, he could upgrade me to a room with those facilities. It was a very disappointing experience.

When I originally booked the room, I had asked the owner if I could charge my car overnight (and was willing to pay extra), and he agreed. But when we arrived, he did not allow us to charge the car. We were only women traveling, and we had to go to SPAR supermarket at night and wait there to recharge it.

I lived at Wonvil appartment for 4 months. I recommend it for people that need big space to stay and be close to nature. Ideal for couples, families, or groups of friends. The place is brand new and modern. It provides a wonderful view on their beautiful garden and the jungle close by. We used to do private parties and barbecue in the garden with friends.

It's perfectly located : the bus stop is right in front of the apartment, market place and stores are close, some beautiful and well known hostels for backpackers (such as Bara beach and Reggae bar - they do nice parties at night too). Galle fort and Galle station are only 5min from there.

2 min walk for a private beach. There is a beautiful surf spot only 7min away (Sahana beach). Hikkaduwa beach - which is a huge beach for water activities - is only 15min by bus. Comfortable Stay at Wonvil – Great for Groups!

We stayed at Wonvil for a night during our Galle trip and had a comfortable experience. The 3-bedroom apartment on the first floor was spacious, with a cozy living area and pantry. Each bedroom had an attached bathroom, and one of the rooms was quite large, featuring two double beds, with extra mattresses provided for larger groups.

A separate kitchen area downstairs was available for meal preparation, which was convenient. The apartment is located on the main road in Gintota, making it easily accessible. However, a few amenities, like a coffee-making facility and a fan for the living area, could be improved.

The hosts, Geeth and his family, were welcoming and did their best to provide good service. There were ongoing renovations, and we hope to see improvements.
