Our family stayed one night at the Oceanfront Condos across two 3-bedroom apartments, and overall, we had a really lovely experience!
The ocean views were absolutely breathtaking, truly one of the highlights of our stay. You could just watch them all day!
The apartments were quite spacious, clean and very well maintained. Everything from the kitchen utensils, dining table, sofas and couches made it comfortable for our entire family to relax and enjoy quality time together. They even had a wooden tic-tac-toe board to play on the coffee table!
The pool was clean and opened as early as 7.30 AM, which was a bonus!
The bathrooms were tidy and had all the necessary toiletries. One of the bathroom drains was slow, though we didn't report it as we had already settled in. As our stay was short, we did not think of it as a major issue to report.
The front desk had some confusion at check-in regarding our complimentary breakfast, but thankfully, they followed up shortly after and confirmed it. Breakfast the next morning was one of the best! It was delicious, with just the right amount of spice. What made it even better was the availability of halal options, which we deeply appreciated. The staff and the manager ensured everything went smoothly and we felt well taken care of.
The only con is that the listing mentioned "3-bedroom direct ocean view rooms", but in reality, only two of the three bedrooms in the apartments had a direct ocean view, which was slightly unfair to the ones staying in that room. Although some of the family members did not mind it, it's worth noting for future guests.
Despite these few minor hiccups, we truly enjoyed our stay. Their customer service was great, so we are confident the staff would address things promptly if we inform them. We would happily return and we have already recommended the place to friends and family. Thank you for the memorable...
Read moreOn arrival, I was initially very impressed. Everyone was pleasant and helpful from the start and did all they could to make us welcome and comfortable. Any minor thing I mentioned was sorted immediately. A lamp fused in the bedroom and another one was produced within a half hour. The sea is just beside the hotel with pleasant beach walks. Apartment is spotless, spacious and well equipped with everything a home would need - including washing machine. My pictures will help give you a feel for the the place. I was unable to use the phone to contact reception re: the safe that would not open (I later realised that I just needed to dial zero before the number; on the information card, it cites the complete number with national code; it should display only what needs to be dialled). I did notice the garbage smell that another reviewer mentioned. It was present yesterday but have not noticed unpleasant odours recently. The hammering and drilling has started close to our apartment and it is like living on a building site. I am not sure what they are doing, but there has been constant banging and drilling for the past two days. For those reasons, I cannot now award this place five stars but I am still very impressed. I have since found out that some apartments are individually owned so renovations etc may not necessarily be the management's fault. It is a concrete building though, and there is nothing to insulate the noise. The staff are very approachable and helpful though, and need to be credited with that. Navodya is absolutely lovely and a credit to...
Read moreTerrible Experience - Would Not Recommend Oceanfront Condominiums, Galle
Our stay at Oceanfront Condominiums was incredibly disappointing. We booked two apartments for our group of ten, expecting to stay together as a family, but we were placed on separate floors, ignoring our request. When we asked to be moved, the alternative apartment was even worse, with a small TV, no internet, and no drinking water.
The property is not child-friendly either. After a swim, it began to rain, and when we asked if we could take a bath towel to our cold 3-year-old, they refused. This was surprising, especially since even five-star hotels usually accommodate such requests.
Additionally, we found a window left open in one apartment, which caused a lamp shade to fall and get damaged due to high winds. When we reported this, the staff was rude and charged us 9,000 Rs for the damage, which felt like an unfair attempt to extract extra money, especially since similar lamp shades cost between 2,500 and 3,500 Rs.
The management needs to improve their handling of guest issues and show more empathy. Frustratingly, the rates are much higher than average, making it feel like a complete rip-off. Based on our experience, I would strongly advise against staying at Oceanfront Condominiums if you’re seeking a pleasant and respectful...
