Eliz Holiday Resort — Hotel in Sri Lanka

We cannot speak highly enough of Eliz Resort - it’s fantastic.||We stayed four nights in August. The owner is first rate and extremely friendly - he and his staff were super helpful when it came to assisting us in planning our time in Trincomalee/Nilaveli/Uppuveli, arranging taxi transfers to/from the hotel (at highly competitive prices), scooter hire and recommending restaurants, bars and attractions nearby.||The vibe here is relaxed and non-intrusive. There’s only a small number of rooms arranged on one level (a la motel style with parking space for cars and bikes out front). Location is ideal - around 20 mins by car/taxi/scooter in either direction to Trincomalee or Nilaveli. We hired a scooter and found this to be the most flexible way of getting around but tuk tuks are in abundance and (I imagine) highly affordable. The owner can arrange scooter hire for you.||There’s plenty of lovely restaurants nearby - we had dinner at Cinnamon Trinco Blu and Amaranthe Bay (both a ten min stroll away, towards the beach) and really enjoyed both (incredible seafood, by candlelight, on the beach and overlooking the ocean - what’s not to love?!) ||Cheaper options including “Cafe of the 18th” and “Trincomalee Lanca” are also worthy of note if you’re looking for local seafood and/or traditional Sri Lankan style roti. ||The rooms are basic but very clean with powerful, reliable a/c. I imagine prices fluctuate according to seasonal demand but for what we paid, I’d say we got definitely got value for money.||Breakfast was included in our room rate and is served in the adjoining restaurant (owned by the same people). There’s choices of eggs, fruit juices, toast with jam, pancakes and fruit platters - you don’t have to choose, you can pretty much have everything(!) and it’s all very tasty. Try the freshly squeezed pineapple juice! ||Overall, a great little hotel. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend...
