I stayed here for 5 days, but mainly for the location! ||We were looking for something right on the beach with hammocks, and thats what we got. ||The rooms are cheap but you really get what you pay for. Dirty rooms, mosquito nets with holes and terrible beds. Best to just sleep in the hammocks. ||We paid the same price in other places in Sri Lanka on the beach, with much cleaner rooms!||I read some of the good reviews, but they were mainly about the seafood. Seems like this was former glory days. They dont offer this anymore, and what they offer now is totally overpriced food on dirty tables.I ordered the fish curry one day for luch, and was told I should have ordered it in advance? Everyone has fishcurry around there.|It seems like they are just relying on the location to bring people in and gave up on everything else...||Staff are helpfull...when their in a good mood. The owner was very friendly but he doesnt speak much English and doesnt get involved too much.||We were also told that it is not financially viable for them to take us to see dolphins or to go pigeon island...even though they have boats. It just seemed a bit lazy to me.| |Its a pitty because the location is so great, so much potential. They dont even bother putting the pillows out on the beach chairs or wipe down tables. We also had to dispute the bill as they added some beers (and to some other guests bills) that we didnt even have. Watch out for this!||They do offer good diving trips though and the dive instructor Ruan is very knowledgable.||I still enjoyed my stay as I did all the activities I wanted to do from providers down the road, and mostly ate at cheaper places ( Shiva next door does great seafood), and spent allot of time on the beach chairs and...

Don't expect service and I would not recommend using them if you want to go snorkelling, diving or whale/dolphin watching. They told two girls that the sunrise whale/dolphin watching was 2500 rupees each then told a couple that it was 1500 rupees each. Plus the boat tour was suppose to be for 3hrs but the captain cut it short at 1hr 20min after they'd only seen a few dolphins. When they queried the captain about the pricing issues and time he got really angry and annoyed. Both groups were the threatened and asked to leave. I bear witness to it all and the boss lady said that the girls and couple did a "bad thing". When in fact Club Dive Paradise were in the wrong .There's a place 2-3doors down along the beach who are apparently a lot more professional then these guys.|| My room was basic but with two single beds even though I only needed one and a ensuite. The ensuite was fine apart from water not draining in the shower. Seems like a common occurrence. The music that the bar/restaurant plays in the evening is horrible and way to loud. It's like he wants a full moon party every night of the week even when there is no one around plus the music quality is terrible. The bosses reasoning behind it was that he wanted to attract tourists when in fact he is detracting them. All in all if all you want is somewhere cheap to sleep that backs straight on to the beach then this place isn't bad at all.||Small Lion Beers - 350 rupees||Please note: They are closed from November...
Read morethe place is just lovely, to be honest. bungalows are simple and you ll see some cockroaches and alot of mosquitos hanging out in them but for 2000-2500 and nice seaview and breeze thats alright, its after all a backpacker place.||the food really isnt good anymore, sorry, but this must have changed. better walk to the road and get some nice seafood or rice and curry there than wasting your money. i just got my drinking water in the place after two unfortunate tries.||now the worst: the manager lady is just the rudest person ever. she is so incredibly unfriendly, that all guests tried to avoid any conversation with her. still, she would always be around trying to press money out of the guests (f.e. tours with their attached diving school). she also tries to change room prices after you ve made a deal and be careful about the bill in the end since sometimes things just add to it miraculesly.||as multiple people have written..they turn up very loud music at around 7 to attract people but these are rather disturbed by it. to be fair, they turned it down at 10 when we asked for it but season was almost over so i m not sure what happens in season. they shut the place down end of september until april.||i enjoyed my stay anyways since you can just hang out in hammocks all day and read right at the beach. if you re able to ignore the few annoying facts, this is the best backpacker hangout at uppuveli beach (since everything else is either too expensive, deserted or just even more terrible, f.e. aqua,...
