We were in and out of Dalhousie in under 24 hours - the one and only reason to come to this location is to climb Adam's Peak (Sri Pada). On that note, we were very happy to have managed to narrowly avoid the start of Poya by about 3 days - start of pilgrim season. The town was pretty quiet but lots of stalls along the streets in construction getting setup and ready for the season.||We had read mixed reviews of Moutain Villa so were a bit nervous about what it would be like, especially as we were preparing to get up at 3am to start the hike and needed some sleep prior. So we were pleasantly surprised it was better that expected.||When we arrived the room wasn't quite ready so we dumped our bags in the very clean and modern looking reception and went to get lunch. The place was the most reasonably priced without going somewhere with terrible reviews. The villa is run by 2 young guys who were incredibly friendly and helpful. One even took us in the afternoon to the start of the hike to make sure we didn't get lost in the dark.||Our room was next to reception and was clean and comfortable. There is no AC or mozzie net but it's very cold at night so not needed. Dalhousie gets pretty warm in the day but inside our room was still cool. The bed was quite hard but ok for one night. The drain in the bathroom did smell a bit but we think that was due to the contruction work going on outside and the fact all waste from the toilet goes in the same place as shower water. The morning after the hike we were given a good breakfast of eggs and bread, tea, fruit and pancakes with palm sugar - awesome. The guys gave us all the info we needed about buses and offered to help us get a tuk tuk as well. We hung around reading in reception for a while before we left town and there's a nice area with couch to wait. No issues here for...
Read moreMy honest review for this villa is 10 out of 10. The couple who runs the villa are exceptionally kind and very polite. I made a late night booking but we were not able to be at the villa at the time we said we were going due to unavoidable reasons, the owner the gentleman made sure he didn't give the room we booked to someone else waited till our arrival and welcomed us, at first he was grumpy but that was very understandable because the time was past 2.00am he waited for us eventhough we were late and the fault is ours, i was bit worried whether he will treat my mother and grandparents well but to my surprise they had treated them really well and had provided an amazing breakfast which was filling. The lady was very kind on the phone and also in person as well, I'm very happy that i booked here to my mother and grandparents while we climb adam's peak. The location is also 10 out of 10 very very close to the start of adam's peak. Easy parking clean rooms clean bathroom exceptional breakfast and good customer service. I can recommend this place to anyone because this place is family friendly, safe and welcoming. I will visit this exact villa again!.. I'm highly satisfie. I can say both the gent and the lady are doing an exceptional...
Read moreMy 4th time visiting this place. The hosts are super welcoming and helpful. Clean cozy rooms with hot water and super close to Adam's peak trek starting point too.
We requested for dinner to be served since we were visiting during the off-peak season and many shops were closed, and boy were we surprised. Warm, homely and super delicious food was what we were greeted with. If anyone is planning on visiting in the evening, I'd highly recommend asking them for the Pol Roti and lunumiris cz it's a treat to the weary.
The hosts were always ready to help tea, coffee, hot water is available on request and with hardly a delay. And if you ever have a doubt about the trek or anything related, they are the perfect people to get your answers from.
All in all, highly recommend, cozy and homely place with the best pol roti and lunumiris you can find in the...
