4 small rooms in a tidy neat compound close to the large market in Polonnaruwa. ||||Our room was absolutely spotless; probably the cleanest room we've stayed. We had a queen and single bed, mirror, A/C, chair, a towel rack and wet washroom. The bathroom had a hot water flow-through although the water was more warm than hot and the pressure was okay. There were two thin but clean towels, no hand towel, washcloth, or shampoo so bring your own. There were two outlets with adaptors which were quite handy. Lighting was good. ||||There isn't anywhere to hang your clothes but I get the sense that people only stay one or two nights so that isn't much of an issue. ||||At dusk, there are a lot of mosquitoes so bring bug spray. If you keep the door and windows closed, the room should be okay. There is netting if you need it. The beds were fairly comfy and the nights mostly quiet. The A/C and WIFI both worked well ||||The food was amazing! For dinner we ordered chicken fried rice but also got a plate of tomatoes, a plate of cucumbers, a bowl of papaya, some dhal, okra, and pumpkin curry (that's what I can remember). For breakfast: hoppers with fried eggs, potato curry, roti, jam, a sandwich with onion sambal, cakes, papaya, coconut roti (crepe with coconut and molasses), buns with powdered sugar, and tea with condensed milk. Although delicious, we could not eat it all. Breakfast was $4 US. ||||The family fusses over you as they want to make sure you have everything you need or want. We didn't mind this at all. They do not bother you when you're in your room. ||||The price was amazing. Two nights, three meals, one beer, one large bottle water and 2 coffees - $125 Canadian. Incredible. Highly...
Read moreWe stayed here in a three bedroom room. Two of the beds had a mosquito net. But I had bought a can of fly-spray, so I nailed them before bed time anyway!||The room was clean and tidy and had good air-conditioning. There was no wifi, although we didn't ask about it either.||The husband and wife greeted us and were very friendly. They had some cold Lion beer that they could sell me (I had a couple of bottles after a long day), so I was very grateful.||The breakfast was simple and good, traditional items, omlette, fruit and poppits (or something), so we really liked that.||We arrived one evening and they had asked earlier that day (I didn't receive the message) whether they should cook dinner for us. I wish I had said yes! but we were running late and had to grab something on the way there.||The next morning the husband drove his motorbike to the Polonnaruwa ticket office and we followed. That was really helpful and many thanks to him for doing this. We hired a guide, and we could drive our car around the different sites (you can take your own car into the ancient city).||Radha home was incredibly cheap and incredibly good value and they were very kind and offered great service. I would highly recommend you stay there, and the location is good to get to the ancient city for a visit. ||Many thanks to husband and...
Read moreWe stayed here as a family of four in a family room for one night. The room was spotless, neatly made up, and equipped with a mosquito net and excellent air conditioning. Everything was super clean and tidy, and the beds were very comfortable. The staff – a kind woman and man – were incredibly friendly. In the evening, the lady even came by for a nice chat. A warm welcome for this family from the Netherlands!
The highlight of our stay was definitely the breakfast – truly stunning and by far the best we've had in Sri Lanka so far. An impressive variety of dishes, from sweet treats to curry pancakes, fried snacks, bananas, omelets, and hoppers. An absolute delight. They even had delicious coffee, which can sometimes be hard to find in Sri Lanka. When I asked if they had any sambal because I like spicy food, they went out of their way to get some just for me. Such amazing hospitality – they really go the extra mile to please their guests. Highly recommended, especially considering the great...
