We stayed at Falkenberg Strandbad for two nights. When we arrived at the hotel around 5.30 p.m. the staff told us we were late for our dinner. We were not told at any time before arrival that our included dinner was at 5 p.m. for both days. However we had our dinner, but rushed through our three courses.

I had Moules frites for the main course and it was great. I THOUGHT. Couple of hours later I suddenly felt really bad. I threw up constantly and this ruined most of our evening and night that we had planned to spend at the Spa (which we paid a lot for). There was no doubt that this was simple food poisoning. I talked to a receptionist around 9 p.m. who told me I was gonna speak to someone in charge in the morning, so that this matter would be handled. When I wanted to check out an unprepared receptionist didn't know what to do. She later sat me down to fill out a formula that was “standard procedure”. The formula was based on questions regarding whether I had any special allergies - if I had something from outside the hotel etc - which I hadn't. To me this was an indication of them trying to deny any responsibility. I was then told I was going to be contacted by their “guest excellence manager” who would resolve this matter in a proper way. The receptionist then happily charged me for extras and sent me on my way.

Several days passed and we decided to send the hotel an Email waiting to be contacted. However it has now been 5 days since I wrote the Email and 10 days since I got sick and we still haven't heard anything back from them.

I do not hope this is the way they handle their “standard procedure” of these situations by just hoping the guest will forget this. As I am working in a hotel personally I know from experience this is NOT how guests should be treated. The staff was not capable of handling situations like these. The room was not satisfying.

When we got to the room we were very surprised at how small they were, since we paid for an upgrade. Did not include a double bed, but two single beds. Bedding was poor and uncomfortable. Not what you expect from a hotel of this price range.

In general very bad experience and disgraceful...

This hotel is a bit special as it has strong sides and some very weak sides. To start of, when arriving the parking area was filled. For us it took about 30 minutes circling to find a parking space and we only had 1 car. We can imagine the trouble if you are a party that is wanting to park with multiple cars... When entering the reception we got greeted by welcoming staff and the check in was easy. We booked 2 rooms and they were next to each other. They were neat and clean but the toilet had a lot to fix. In both rooms the toilet chair was squeaky and moved when sitting down. The shower did not hold a consistent temperature either, it did not get extremely cold or hot but it did not stay the same. The rooms did have bad ventilation so towards the evening it got extremely hot and made it hard to sleep. The relax area was definitely a bonus. The super comfy beds by the pool side made sleeping easy, even with places where the music was rather loud (there are places with music, loud music and no music) so that is a big plus by me and my family. Some things we thought were missing was a cold bath by the sauna and a jacuzzi, if you want to warm yourself in the sauna then go swimming from the beach the distance will cool you off before you get the chance to. Towards the evening we went to get some dinner with a reservation. The reservation worked perfectly as we got a table exactly when booked, the staff was really nice and handed a menu to us. The food was good and what you ordered was what you got, the only thing we noticed was the "Crème brûlée" was poorly made. The sugar was not flamed correctly and was rather cold making the impression that they were not made to order. Overall a good experience but compared to other hotels this is one of the last ones on the list I want to...

Our whole experience from start to finish was excellent!!!!|We were celebrating my fiancée’s 50th birthday.|Upon arrival we were met by one of the Guest Excellence Managers called Frida. She was fantastic and very helpful. She showed us around and explained all the things we needed to know.|We booked a double room with Terrace and seaview and I’m so pleased we did, It was beautiful, fresh and clean. The view was stunning. The beds were very comfortable, loads of cosy pillows. The bathroom was also beautiful, tastefully decorated, clean and fresh!|The retreat club was superb, the indoor pool was lit up in the evening with nice lighting, very warm and there was great music playing all the time ( not the usual Whale sound music you get at other spa’s) and the atmosphere was great. There were also plenty of cocktails available to purchase and the bar staff were very friendly and helpful.|There is a jacuzzi outside and another larger pool as well.||The restaurant was great and space for a lot of guests. The food did take a while to arrive but we didn’t see this as a negative thing as we had the time to enjoy the moment, no stress.|We ordered a 3 course meal and there was plenty to choose from on the menu. All three courses were delicious and the pepper steak was perfectly cooked!! All the restaurant staff were very friendly and professional!!||The breakfast buffet was excellent, so much food to choose from and something for everyone. Everything tasted great!!||We checked out at 11 o’clock and were still allowed to use the spa until 14:00.||We have only got positive feedback to give, there was nothing negative about our stay, we loved every minute of it. The best spa I’ve ever been to!!!!||We will be definitely...

Overall it was a great experience! I dare to say that it was one of the best spa hotel packages I had in Sweden so far! It may be also that we are lucky with weather during our stay since we are still very cautious about covid so we are not using any indoor spa facilities. Note that indoor pool is under renovation so if the weather isn’t ideal, it’s limited space you have inside for spa option. The outdoor pool is right next to the beach with a very nice bar nearby. Amazingly, you are allowed to bring the drink from the bar and hangout in the pool! The room itself is pretty standard and I think most of them have a view to the ocean. We have a balcony and it was such a relaxing experience to sit in our balcony and read a book while listening to the sound of ocean if we want to avoid the crowds. Parking is very convenient and the gym is incredible! Huge and fresh! Completely covid safe! The rope and flip flop are provided in the room so very convenient when you head down to the beach or the spa. The only negative experience is the restaurant receptionist at the hotel. We stay there for three days and each time we arrived early prior to breakfast/dinner time to ask for a relatively covid safe seat. Each time we were given a whatever seat that has no concern for Covid whatsoever though there were plentiful seats available and much safer. We asked if we could take those other seats and was rejected. The only exception was the male reception on 25th of Aug. morning 7:15am. He was kind and took us to a table that is relatively much more covid safe. He is the reason why I’m giving full 5 stars instead of 4. It’s a small gesture but make our dining experience completely different. We could at least be a little bit more relaxed.

Overall I would give it a 3.5 stars as a spa hotel. We have been to two of the other spa hotels in the same group and enjoyed both of them much more. Falkenberg Strandbad feels more ”mass production” and in the need of some modernization. Positive parts + good service except at the Sandy’s + good drinks at the retreat club, ordered salted caramel and it was yummy + spa area has plenty of relax beds and also a few relax areas if you are looking to have a relaxing time + several pools and one kids pool, definitely kids friendly + can order drinks and food directly from the relax beds by the pool ( a plus for us, as we just wanted to chill, relax and rest) + close to the beach Negative parts - it is evident that the hotel has had its years and in need of some modernization - Our room was newly renovated so it was clean and fresh. However there is no AC hence extremely hot in the rooms and stuffy. The beds are super uncomfortable and only thick comforters were available. So that didn’t help either with sleeping through the hot night (even with the balcony door open). - The bathroom for a spa hotel is quite small. Also to get the right shower temperature was difficult. We had to settle with either too hot or too cold water.
