Went to Stöten for the 3-year ski trip with the family after having gone to Linvallen twice previously.
Stöten has more varied and slightly longer terrain than Linvalen but is weaker on facilities. We were there in high season. I was disappointed that a significant number of runs were left closed and in the case of elvan (apparently the best black run in Sweden) wasn't even anywhere near prepared or ridable, and that while the jump park was being prepped while we were there, it still wasn't ready after 4 days of activity. I got the impression that they are understaffed or under equipped to run the whole park.
That aside, Stöten has a great set of off piste but within bounds terian that the kids loved and are safely accessible to beginners and competent riders. This was a plus.
The western runs are black starts due to steepness and grade down thru red to blue. This was also good for pushing the youngsters to accomplish what they initially thought was beyond them.
Cabins were awesome. We had two connected by a verandah and comfortably fit in all 16 of us. Well equipped and maintained for many happy wind-down family...
Read moreNice skiarea for alpine skiing. But the best slope often does not open until february, due lack of snow. Cross country skiing rather boaring, and the area for cross country is small. Longest track only 7 km, on low ground along the river. Stöten prioritize polluting and noisy private snowmobiles over cross country skiing. There is an unique mountain crosscountry skiing possibility on the high grounds of the national park, but also here snowmobiles ruin the area and environment. Snowmobiles are prioritized over making crosscountry skiing tracks in the national park, so those tracks are only made every second year at the best. Can not recommend this ski resort, also because management is not cooperative to suggestions for better service for cross country skiers. Management should get some renewal. Acting very totalitarian. Staff at the slopes are...
Read moreIt is a very nice environment and the people are friendly. The snow is wonderful and there are a lot of lifts to get you everywhere on the mountain.
Book activities and lessons on beforehand, we got stuck with no ski school for the kids because they changed the starting date to Sunday instead of normally Monday. We eventually paid for private lessons.
The communication on the app and website should be better, it feels a bit pushed to use an app that is not working properly. Sometimes you get info in Swedish and booking did not even...
