Binn is a beautiful village of mostly original old timber houses with balconies covered in flowers. The hotel is the largest of these without being at all overbearing. Situated next to the river it has a quaint charm and retains many original features including wooden balconies, floors, and even proper wooden shutters on the windows. ||||The family who run it were all welcoming and incredibly helpful. We arrived fairly late the first evening and ate in the hotel restaurant. It was so good, we didn't look anywhere else during our stay. They have a 4-course daily menu which varies for lunch and dinner and was different each day. There was a full vegetarian menu too which was a onderful surprise. It was all absolutely delicious fresh-cooked food. There was great selection of wines, including many that you could order by the glass. There's also an a la carte menu for the days when you just can't manage 4 courses. All the food was excellent and served by really friendly and helpful staff. We found the prices to be very reasonable, especially having arrived from Zermatt. ||||If you stay in Zermatt, we'd also recommend the 'mineralien excursion' (crystal hunting!) with Ewald Gorsatt, and the workshops he does where you can make stone and gem jewellery, tools, and...
Read moreWe were only here one night on our drive home from Florence and loved that in the morning we were in city centre Italy in stifling heat and by 7pm in this lovely hotel in a beautiful village up in the mountains. ||||We paid £130 for a double room on the second floor with ensuite, which was a very modern fully glazed insertion due to it being a designated historic building. We were lucky to get one of the four balconies. Rooms on the first floor shared bathrooms. The bed didn't particular suit me, two single beds which didn't make for easy snuggling up and I kept hitting my feet on the little wooden bits at the side of the bed.||||We had dinner in the hotel, which was perfectly good with friendly service. The couple who run the place were also lovely. Breakfast the next morning was also perfectly good with lots of different fresh bread, cheeses and cold meats as well as the usual yoghurts, cereals and fresh fruit.||||Although it was expensive we certainly didn't feel it was overpriced and it was certainly worth the extra miles...
Read moreWe were highly disappointed with this hotel. The room offers zero comfort; the room is small with very old and overused furniture, and cracking floors. The room does not have curtains, nor TV, nor Wi-Fi, nor hairdryer; the only toiletry offered is soap. Of the two room-windows, only one had a wooden cover, so we hardly had any sleep as the streetlight was all night in our faces. Sincerely, we found quite dishonest to charge high prices for such low-quality room. ||||This is the first time we encountered such an experience with a Swiss “historic” hotel offering rooms at high prices with such poor room quality. Highly disappointing indeed!||||However, breakfast and dinner were good. Waiters were professional, helpful and pleasant, and the food...
