Motel Steighof — Hotel in Brütten

My husband and I went to this motel to try and get a room without pre-booking as we wanted to pay in cash. The nice German lady that was trying to help us gave us the total of 145 which is 35 dollars more than the website showed. We learned that if you want to pay in person, you pay for breakfast which is 14 CHF per person on top of city tax and the room fare. We asked if we could reserve online and pay in person since booking online included breakfast. My husband attempted to book through their website while the lady went to get clarification but there was no option to pay just putting your name into the system. After a few minutes she came back with a man with a red beard (we didn’t get a name) who was heated and rude for absolutely no reason. He had the worst attitude possible when telling us we cannot reserve online and pay in person and that we would have to pay for the breakfast. I paid 80 CHF per night in this motel. Which is not a good value. It's a US American style street motel for truck drivers and workers. The rooms are very simple but old. They could need a renovation. As there is no air conditioning expect the rooms to be very hot in summer. If you open the window, you are likely to get a lot of mosquitoes. Room doors lead directly to the parking lot. When going out of the room, you are likely to encounter some people. Rooms are badly insulated, so you risk hearing your neighbors. The restaurant in front offers a good amount of food options specializing in "US American" food and breakfast, which is quite convenient as the entire place is isolated in a...

Arriving later than 10pm? No problem! You will be treated with lack of empathy and any consideration for you as a person or as a booked/paying Guest.

I was happy to pay my Fr.60.75 NOT to see this persons face - and even happier to spend my time elsewhere, where I am welcomed, received with courtesy and by people who understand how a Guest should be correctly treated, such as the B&B Hotel in Rümlang.
