Hotel Krone — Hotel in Churwalden

Great hotel, totally recommend. The room was spotless. You could see that everything was cleaned, up to the last details. The pillows were a bit too big for my taste but that’s just my opinion. We had a room on the first floor. It came with a small terrace. The hotel had a great spa area. We didn’t try any massage but enjoyed the free access to the saunas and jacuzzi. From 16:00-20:00 the use is exclusive for adults. We expected the wellness area to be crowded and were positively surprised. It was quite empty (we arrived at 18:00), organised, clean and with free refreshments such as water, infused water, tea and fruits. The room came with two sets of towels per person. So you can use one for the wellness area and one for bathing. The facilities were very silent and calm. The wellness area included a fitness facility which we didn’t try. Beautiful view and great interior for the price. Since it’s recently open (Dec 2022) we were quiet please with the buildings. However the hotel staffs, especially the receptionists, weren’t prepared to handle high season. Many inconsistencies. First, payment with card on the bar didn’t work, we had to pay cash for coffee. Second, receptionist barely explained anything. On top of that, we clearly noticed that from 18PM onwards the spa would be “adult only” as it was published on the website. Apparently it wasn’t explained to every guest and there’s a family who brought their 4 years old boy at 19.30PM and clearly the poor boy didn’t enjoyed it and screamed on top of his lungs literally every 2 minutes. We reported it immediately to the receptionist staff and he said there were nothing he could do despite of the rule is clearly written on their website. The hotel looks like brand new, no rusty irons or worn out corners. The room was beatiful and very clean. Relaxing decoration with warm tones and beatiful view to the mountains. Shower very pleasant stream and constant warm water flow, no fluctuations. Bed was queen size (1,6m), very comfortable, the pillows were too big and fluffy for our taste but we brought our own pillows ;). The guy in the reception already recognized me from the ID that I had sent before hand- even before saying my name, fantastic service. The garage (height 2,35m) is spaceous and included in the price (145chf/night/standard double room). The breakfast is very fresh, intercontinental with eggs and bacon and typical swiss müsli, coffee is served from an automat but the taste and quality is between good and excellent, even oat milk was available next to the machine.
