This hotel is very attractive in a very good location for walking holidays. The room was clean and big enough for a table and bench seating with a small balcony also with seating, for two. However, although there was a "mini-bar" there was no fridge and no coffee/tea making facilities.|The breakfast buffet was more than adequate for our needs with the variety you would expect in this type of hotel.|There was a swimming pool as advertised, but this was not much bigger than a plunge-pool, five strokes and you and done a length.|We had our evening meals in the restaurant on two occasions and we found the food was good and well prepared. We must have thought it was OK because we did eat there twice.|There wasn't anything much else in the way of facilities, no lounge area but there was a bar in the cellar with a separate entrance, this we didn't use so cannot comment on what it was like.|Our main criticism of this hotel is the large number of flies which have the run of the place. Sometimes the items on the breakfast buffet where covered and sometimes not. Even if they where covered this was inadequate, the flies where able to get under the cling-film. On one occasion there was a fly floating in the milk. They where in the bedroom, everywhere, I found myself swatting files lying in bed. You couldn't keep the window closed as there wasn't any air-conditioning.|There are a number of ways to combat flies, bead curtains over doors, electronic devices etc but none of these where in evidence.|It is for this reason that I cannot...
Read moreIt was not a great visit to Wildhaus because the weather was appalling in the middle of June, Cloud level with the hotel and rained constantly which meant I could not see the Santis or the Churfisten, the only reason I went! This was my last night of seven different hotels in Switzerland - so I will try to be objective. As a single traveller I always pay for a double room to get the space, This was a single room with a double bed! I am not exactly vertically challenged at 5 feet 8 inches but my head touched the headboard while my feet touched the baseboard. Then there was only 12 inches space to get past the diminutive bed. Having read reviews on grumpy waitresses I have to disagree there. They were cheerful and helpful except the receptionist was unable to help God stop the rain! My dinner was local trout and was delicious. It was only after I left that I read previous reviews about the flies and then I remember there were flies on the food at dinner and breakfast and I did think - the windows are all closed - how did they get in here and why the heck don't they have an electrocutor - saying cannot do anything because of hygiene regs is nonsense, It is a huge hygiene risk. Someone does not want to spend the money - as they don't on beds!|I thought it was very poor value compared to my other 6 hotels all in a similar category and...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel for two nights in June 2018. It was a great place to stay. It is listed as a 3 star and perhaps with the amenities and slightly old fashioned room that is correct. But the friendly staff and location more than makes up for that. In our deal we had breakfast and dinner which were delicious. We had the vegetarian option both evening although we are not vegetarians and it was really nice and we will definitely do these meals ourselves once back home. The breakfast were good with all the options you could ask for. The wifi was free. Although the rooms were old fashioned in style, they made me feel like I was really staying in a real Alp hotel in Switzerland. The surrounds were great with the mountains around you and you could hear the cows on the hills. Would definitely use this...
