Minzu Hotel — Hotel in Lugu Township

First visit ever but it already impressed me so much. The winter bamboo shoot (never had before) cooked with spare rib to prepare and cook a perfect, delicious soup (Zhushan means bamboo mountain in Chinese). The combination of kimchi and egg were mingled so good to elevate the stir fried egg to another level of flavor. The the “teal oil deep fried chicken”, not only the fried chicken so tasty but don’t miss the ginger slices in the plate. The wild celery is so fresh and tender with yummy flavor and texture. The fresh mushroom and rice ball tempura made the mushroom and rice ball to a totally new and memorable dish. Overall, it’s one of the best meals we ever had. Fresh food, not your typical Chinese greasy meal. This restaurant is part of a lodging, but you can come here to enjoy the food on its own.

Sit on polished wooden tree trunk stools at wood tables with a wooden Lazy Suzan. If you like the sweet plums they serve with dessert, you can buy some to take home. They also sell a bunch of other packaged treats to take home.

Bathrooms are available. Kitchen seems clean. Favorite dish was the duck that came with spicy pickled cabbage. They serve lots of vegetables with each meat dish. Whole fish was served and prepared with a nice, light seasoning that kept the fish’s taste in tact.

Also good was their wood ear mushrooms, served with fresh baby ginger and bamboo shoots.

I got the opportunity to stay here this past weekend and can not rave more about my wonderful experience! The rooms were exactly as pictured, plenty of amenities, shower pressure was perfect, and food was yummy. It was super close to the 溪頭, so we were able to get there first thing in the morning. We were even able to get our entrance tickets at the counter, which was very convenient. Would highly recommend, will definitely stay here again...
