This is an airport hotel, though about a 15 minute drive from the airport due to traffic. There are a Family Mart and 7-11 conveniently located right across the street, but otherwise it is in a pretty middle of nowhere area. Definitely nothing for tourists right there. Super convenient for getting to or from TPE though. Due to location, most people are here only one night, or there seem to be a lot of weekend guests for special events, though there are factories nearby so I am surprised they don't get more business travelers.
During an extended work trip to Asia we sent 2 individual nights and then a solid week, and the staff definitely knew us by the end of a week. All of the staff were great, especially Melody and her team in the executive lounge who are super helpful, friendly and welcoming.
Rooms are a bit on the smaller side. Fine but nothing special.
The free shuttle is a wonderful perk which is not fully explained on the Marriott site: It runs approximately every 90 minutes and stops at the airport AND the Taoyuan High Speed Rail Station. You do need to prebook a time (via email or from the hotel once you have arrived). Personally, I suggest taking a taxi TO the hotel from TPE as it stops at the HSR after the airport and that is long after a flight. Taxi runs about 250-300 (less than 15 euro). The HSR station is connected via covered walkway to a large outlet mall with lots of restaurants, a large cinema and an aquarium, and of course from the station itself you can go into Taipei or other tourist areas. The shuttle was always on time and professionally run. I used it almost daily and it is a highly underrated perk of this property.
There is also a pool (rather lackluster) a nice gym with a separate room for yoga/aerobics, a small game room with foosball, whack a mole, air hockey, small pingpong tables and billiards. and a self service laundry area with one washer and one dryer for 50 NTD per machine per load.
As previously mentioned, the executive lounge has an amazing staff who take great care of you. Unfortunately breakfast is not provided at this property unless you use your welcome gift for breakfast. Evening happy hour always had several hot dishes (mostly Chinese, occasionally there was one western item) as well as cold salad, fruit and sweets. The lounge itself was quite small but we were always able to get a seat (on Saturdays you have to reserve a one hour slot during happy hour), always clean and well stocked, even in the...
Read moreRead moreIf you are looking for a "real" airport hotel and rely on convenient access with a full shuttle service between airport, hotel, metro and city - choose another place. If you are fine to take and pay taxi by yourself, it is still a good & close option.||How it should be:|From an airport hotel, that says shuttle is complimentary, I expect it | has a shuttle that pretty much runs regularly from first to the last flight| provides clear information on how to access/find the shuttle | clearly states advance reservation needs ||How it was:| In the Marriott app it just says conveniently located. No mention of any shuttle. | On the websites it says shuttle complimentary; not more and not less| Reality:|It took me several phone calls to try to find out where this shuttle leaves without success. All the hotel staff says when you call is - 30 at Terminal 2 for or 20 for Terminal 1| I told them clearly there is no Hotel Bus Bay 20 or 30. Only No. 1 to 18 where it says Hotel shuttle bus (at No. 1 it even says Sheraton Hotel Shuttle Bus). In another phone call I said where I was (running around with really lot's of luggage). The hotel staff told me I would be picked up at the place where I am. Of course not. Then the best thing: I was told in another phone call you need to book the airport shuttle one day in advance! And the last shuttle from the airport to the hotel runs already at 18:00| In the end because I was really frustrated and wanted to cancel my stay, the hotel staff offered kindly to pay for my taxi. ||LATEST INFO:|I also shared the above with the deputy manager and in his favor, he reacted very professionally. He explained me a bit more about this "ominous" shuttle, and also kindly offered me a good treat in the lounge as an apology. I hope he really makes those changes to the provided information as he said. Then travellers could understand if it is the right place or not depending on their needs.||It seems the shuttle is not a real hotel shuttle bus but only a van. Obviously, they pick up at exit door 20, 2nd level arrival hall T1 for example and not the labeled hotel shuttle bus bay area on level 1! And you need to make a reservation one day in advance and still, with very irregular schedule. I post below the hotel shuttle paper which is displayed at the hotel only.||On the positive side, hotel is very well-maintained, and very clean. Housekeeping does a good...
At first, there’s not crowded when arriving at hotel. Perhaps it is that I came here on a normal day. The receptionist, Ms. April Listiani was kind enough to reach out the issue due to I had my own mistake to book a wrong type room. She was helpful and excellent and solved it out very fast. She also helped me ahead to make a shuttle bus reservation to HSR station for check out on tomorrow afternoon.
During my stay, get complantary breakfast for 2 guests; the lounge was 24 hours opening where provide some soft drinks besises happy hour time on 5-8 pm. The stuff are all good service and always say hi to me when entrying. As a platinum member, you should get free access and enjoy their evening happy hours. They are very responsive and this was my favorite hotel recently in Taiwan.
Location Not ideally located for travelers who want to amenities/Stores/ restaurants nearby. In the immediate area, only convenient stores on opposite of hotel. It’s very close to Taoyuan international airport and suitable for transit traveller. By the way, i was appreciating that there are Ubike station outside of hotel.
Service Excellent polished service from the moment you picked-up at HSR station. The entrance of hotel is well staffed with doormen to help you with your bags and front desk staff to check you in. The process was very quick and efficient and they seem very well trained. just a doubting I had at that moment is I thought that I travel in south-east asia because they employee tons of staffs from overseas.
Room As a platinum member, I was given an exclusive floor (9th floor) even though I originally booked a classic room and my room is next to the lounge. The bathroom is exceptionally clean and well laid out!
Food I didn’t eat at the restaurant. Instead we had access to eat my dinner in excutive lounge where is next to my room. However, I did enjoy the snacks, food and beverages in the Club Lounge. You can get breakfast at 1st floor without...
