This was our second stop over at a tented camp having visited Manyara National Park. Unlike other camps which tend to be remote, this lies in the heart of the local community. You are warmly welcomed by the staff and given a cold drink at reception. this camp is in a beautiful leafy green setting amongst which you see plenty of Brevet Monkeys. The tents are clean and comfortable and the staff as always will attend to all your needs. The evening meal was very good along with a few local beers, allow you to unwind after a day of safari in Manyara. We had no issues with the room showers and the toilets also flushed. We found the food great - very fresh and unlike the frozen faire we get at most American restaurants! The tent is meant to be eco-friendly so most of the lights in these camps are solar. Cute velvet monkeys outside and we also saw striped mongoose. Here, you are staying at a camp close to nature and in the middle of Africa - thus it is not meant to be a "luxury" accommodation, though if you come to understand how most people are living in Tanzania, it certainly is. Read moreWe just went here to have lunch, not to stay overnight. The lunch was served by friendly people in a nice setting. Thats the positive.
The negative is that the food was mediocre at any price, let alone for the USD 20 pp we were charged (which felt random as there was no price list). Insult to injury is that they tried to charge us also for our young children, which had never been done in east Africa before (and we are traveling here for two months now).
Your lunch is much better served at nearby Serena lodge (good value) or Migombani Campsite or Gibbs farm (great value both).
