Premium price for an average stay.
We were looking forward to our stay at Lion’s law given that we paid a premium price for the room. The room and view is great but we stayed there for two cold nights. The temperature dropped to 8 degrees at night so imagine when you’re told you have to have a quick shower so you don’t utilise all the hot water for the next person as it will take 3 hours for the water to re-heat. My husband had no hot water towards the end of his shower cause I used most of it. The hairdryer runs on a generator so we had to call reception to turn it on before we use it, wait a couple of minutes, use it then call them back to turn it off.
The wifi is capped at 3GB for your entire stay which isn’t bad unless you want share videos of your day with friends and family. Did not expect a cap on wifi especially when the price of the room is so high.
While we had a heater and electric blanket in our room, our guide was only provided with a blanket. He did not have a good sleep and it did not make us feel good knowing we were staying at a place with segregation.
The food is mediocre overall, nothing to rave about. We were given chicken and the same peas and carrot dish for the two days we were there. The breakfast selection is little. We had more options at other accommodations. Dinner was ok, the vegetables on the second night were undercooked and hard.
Will not return or recommend even though the view and...

Upon arrival, we were greeted graciously by the staff. Overall, the staff members were hospitable. My discontent is not directed toward them. Like most Tanzanians, they were happy and very polite.
The view was beautiful. You feel like you’re in a rain forest. Surrounded by nature and tranquility, it’s truly a unique experience.
The rooms were freezing cold. Fortunately, there’s an electric blanket to keep you warm. We struggled to find a balance between cold and hot. This affected my ability to stay asleep.
Although It’s understandable considering you’re off-the-grid, you’re restricted on the resources you consume. Water is limited. Quick showers are a necessity. The same is true for WiFi (3GB per/day), and electric use. Usage of a hair is also time limited.
My main complaint is with the food and drinks. Before dinner, I had a mixed drink at the bar. Something in the mixed drink (I suspect it was the ice cubes) made me violently ill. After finishing the drink, my stomach started to cramp. Then came dinner. I spent the evening vomiting, I had chills and night sweats, and a fever. The fever didn’t break for two days.
The food was mediocre at best. The steak was chewy and overcooked. The pinotage wine we ordered was likely oxidized. The smell was off and after one sip, I was done drinking.
I would not recommend...
