Jakicha Motel — Hotel in Dar es-Salaam

We were between 2 different flights on 2 different days on the way from Moshi to Mafia Island. The place is actually quite far from the airport terminal building in the middle of nowhere but near the runway. The noise wasn't too bad at night. Good Aircon in the room. The bed and pillows were quite comfortable and clean but the bed is very short and had a wooden footboard at the bottom, so I couldn't even stick my feet out. I therefore had a bad night's sleep. The shower room was acceptable with a nice towel. We arrived before dinner time, so had to eat in the bar/restaurant. There is nothing else around. Most items were not available apart from chicken and fish. We waited nearly 2 hours for the food and it was the worst piece of chicken we've eaten in a long time. Breakfast was abysmal. The choice was a few hard boiled eggs, sliced dry white bread, miserable looking cooked noodles, some bad quality jam, couple slices of pineapple, tea bags, coffee sachets, hot water and hot milk. No toaster to toast the bread, no water or juice! Terrible! I'm sorry but I would not recommend this place! Not good...

We needed a place to rest up after a late arrival from a long flight. This looked ideal with 20 minute transfer from the airport booked in advance. Our plane was late in but this did not create any problem and we were shown into our rooms.||A good nights sleep was assured by comfortable beds and all plumbing worked well.||The rooms were well fitted. Breakfast was taken in a small building in the grounds and was a good choice of cooked foods of fruit and cereal.||All staff were very helpful and friendly.||There are grounds with a small pool for swimming and plenty of birds to be seen.||Booking and communications were helpful and prompt.||We would love to...

Very nice hotel and reasonably priced. Rooms were clean and large. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The building grounds are really unique and beautiful. Such an interesting and eclectic hotel. We really enjoyed our stay here. The street trash, which is unfortunately a reality across Tanzania, is particularly bad right outside this hotel. Don't expect much out of the breakfast.
