Bedgugs and unpleasant services We couldn't sleep at all during the stay. We woke up after few hours we went to bed because we felt itchy. We found bedbugs on our beds, there were plenty of them. I complained about it to the receptionist, but he just gave me another room key without any apology. Before we changed the room, I checked the beds, sheets and everything and it seems okay. But we couldn't sleep again, because there were another bedbugs, again. We found more than 10 of them. I went to the reception and complained about it, but the receptionist just said "Again?" and gave me another room key. I thought there was no point of changing the room, because there could be another bedbugs and there were only 2~3 hours left to go. I told him so and ask him a refund as a compensation of the inconvenience. Then, he made a phone call to the manager so I talked to him and explained everything. The manager just kept saying that he could change the room over and over again till the morning but no refund. He didn't listen to me at all but just kept saying what he wanted to say, he was almost yelled at me when he said he won't give us "any money", of course no apologies. I was so upset about their attitude than about bedbugs. I was trying to talk to the manager again but he didn't answer. So we gave up and spent 2 hours at the lobby and left the hotel without any compensation or apology for the inconvenience and unpleasant experience. I highly recommend not to use this hotel never ever.

What I liked: This hotel is physically gorgeous and has great potential to become a five star hotel. Beautiful views of Ubungo and the rest if the city. The reception staff is the only professional. The rooms were clean and spacious. The prices as of this review start from 40k. Its worth the money for such a beautifully built hotel. What I didn’t like: Overall, poor customer service. They also have very unusual rules like no guests after 9pm as if its a school dorm. The elevator only works to 6th floor and is the slowest elevator in the city. Also they have a barbershop owned by the property. I was unfortunate enough to use it. Cost 5k for a hair cut. I am need a bald shave, an overcharge. Once the barber was done he left and didn’t say a word, gave the washer lady the money. The lack of customer service is appalling in this place.

Good place to stay if passing through Dar or need to catch an early morning upcountry bus. Comfortable rooms with a/c and a small balcony. Hot water intermittent, but easily overlooked with the Dar heat. Good breakfast in the morning.

What went well. ||This hotel is very close to the Ubungo bus station||The property has a fence and a security guard at the gate. ||I booked a deluxe room which was very large, with an access to a private little verandah where one can sit and enjoy the outside views - see photos of the views. ||The air conditioner worked well and the water was flowing in the bathroom taps. ||I ordered food in the restaurant and after a few glitches, the right door was delivered and it was hot and delicious. I waited for my 2000 shs change which didn't arrive but would have tipped anyway as the food was nice. |||What didn't go so well ||The bathroom has a very old and rusty jacuzzi with a very dirty shower handle which gives little confidence about the cleanliness of the facility. ||The toilet seat was broken and discoloured. It could do with a few manitainance fixes to the taps and the toilet. ||There was only one towel in the bathroom and having booked for two people I wondered what the problem was. Asking for an additional towel at the reception I was reassured that it will be provided but this didn't happen. The one that was available was not dry giving little confidence regarding cleanliness. If you decide to stay here I suggest you bring your own towels. ||Breakfast is included in the room price, but this also was very poor for Tz standards. They only had bread slices, maandazi, bananas, water melons and soup. So if you needed any proteins then you only had peas soup which I didn't fancy and I didn't see any guest going for it. There was instant coffee hot water and milk. |||Overall ||If what you want is a place to lay your head at night and don't care much about cleanliness or having a good breakfast then this place is for you. I think the property would benefit from renovation of the basic facilities and good regular deep cleaning. The jacuzzi could be removed and replaced with a working shower which is easy to clean. For 55 USD per night you should get a better service than this in Dar es Salaam. ||Useful tip||Request rooms on the 7th floor, they are much quieter than those at...

We spent two nights here in July 2017. The hotels location is very strange, it is pretending to be a western hotel with great rooms, we got a corner room with a view and a jacuzzi.||||The view was not very good, just overlooking some traffic and a bus park. The jacuzzi did not work. The hot water did not work before discussing with the receptionist who said "some of the taps are reversed, choose the one that has the highest pressure, because the hot water has a pump". So we chose cold water, which had the higher pressure, let it run for 3 minutes, and then we had hot water.||||So far so good. In the middle of the night, my girlfriend had an accident and some blood spilled on the sheet. I politely asked the receptionist if it was possible to have a new sheet, and I was assured that this was no problem. A boy was sent to the room, but instead of exchanging the dirty sheet with a clean one, he started examining the sheet. "Oh, there is blood here", he said. "Yes", I said "that is why we want the sheet exchanged". I also mentioned to him that pointing out the blood on the sheet was very indiscreet and unprofessional, and that the lady might be embarrassed by this.||||They made a big deal about this and after a while the manager came out and talked about "regulations". "This is not the UK or Europe, we have regulations". "If you spill blood on the sheet we will exchange it the day after, and charge you for dry cleaning". I told them I would pay for a new sheet, but they told me this could not be done until the day after, and at a charge. I was very offended, especially as the receptionist told me that a sheet change would be no problem. Fortunately, my girlfriend dragged me into the room before this escalated into something more.||||The hotel was built like a 4 star luxury hotel, but the location is bad and the service...
