A week ago we took a road trip to Dar in Tanzania. My travelling partner and i were looking for a place to crush after a long - long drive, Moshi to Dar es Salaam is far! It was quite an epic encounter especially because i wanted to see the countryside. 9 hours later we were in Dar.., tired from the long drive, (I don't remember the number of times we wished we had booked a hotel prior)( but i guess that was part of the adventure, travelling blindly,lol)...and so all we wanted to do was to sleep. Then we found King D!||||It is easily accessible from the road, in a relatively busy neighborhood (Sinza- Africa Sana Road). The rooms on the 3rd floor are to die for, totally amazing. We received great service right from the reception and the house keeping team was warm and friendly. Winnfreda is an angel, very polite and helpful. There is a bar on the 3rd floor,( my partner was thrilled) , good food, loved their grilled chicken and garden salad, although the waitresses were too slow and had an attitude. They can do better considering they are the face of the hotel and how they carry themselves matters. They can learn a great deal from their counterparts in house keeping. The Manager and his Assistant were amazing. ||||The only downside is that there is a night club right next to the hotel that played loud music until morning. i'm not sure how this can be resolved, but the management can consider sound-proving their rooms. ||||In a nut shell, it is a great facility, fairly priced, clean, spacious and very comfortable.We...
Read moreStayed here for almost a week, and I'm happy with the hotel as such. What I nticed first and foremost was the kind treatment I received from the staff; nice smiles, always helpful, and something that I think is a sign of people feeling comfortable and satisfied with their job; whistling a little while working.||I also liked the outdoor bar, where a nice breeze is cooling you off in the evenings. It also offers a fantastic view over Dar es Salaam.||But - there's a big but with this hotel: it is situated right next to a nightclub that is playing extremely loud music every night - until 6.30 in the morning!||The first night it kept me awake all night long, but then I got a pair of really good earplugs. After that I slept very well.||I would recommend the hotel to provide with free earplugs to all their guests, that would keep them satisfied.||My last recommendation is to try to speed up the kitchen a bit. I wasn't worried since I know it usually takes time to get the food anywhere in Tanzania, but there were other foreign tourists there who obviously didn't know this, and they went furious about the...
Read moreWe were originally booked at Hotel Lantan, their sister company, but they claimed they were overbooked and put us at King D. We were obviously disappointed as Hotel Lantana was very quiet which is what we needed so we could sleep before catching our flight. At King D, the first room we were put in was comfortable, spacious and relatively quiet. The AC wasn't working and the showier was leaking water all over the bathroom for some reason. So we were put in another room and there was extremely loud music thumping non-stop, and the room was extremely small. We asked for room service and it took 45 minutes to get the menu and another hour to get the food and we only ordered fruit, toast and soup. The receptionist had a poor attitude and was lazy. She was not helpful about local information such as getting a taxi or finding and ATM. These are basic things receptionists should know. ||We didn't get any sleep and it was a complete waste of money. We were extremely...
