Burunge Tented Lodge — Hotel in Manyara Region

Without doubt, the most remarkable hotel/lodge we've ever stayed in! Arriving off-road at the lodge car park one walks up to the large thatched open reception/bar/restaurant and beyond, a large deck overlooking the bush below. It's empty as we check-in and we sit for a welcome lunch and drink after our long drive. As soup and bread rolls were served a monkey ran up to our table, snatched my bread roll and was gone! No worries, nothing broken, we all laughed, but it reminded us we had arrived amongst the real African animals and we were now in their territory. Every meal we had was first class and the service super-friendly. We were walked to our thatched tented lodge. Very comfortable, ensuite with a rustic front sitting area, we were told, just once, not use the terrace after dusk or in the early mornings. A warthog and her family watched on. They could, of course, have been lion. Early the next morning we called a ranger with our torch to be escorted to the main building for breakfast, as instructed. As we were eating a waiter told us elephant had arrived and sure enough, below the deck, a small herd had come for a drink. Then they all wandered back into the bush. Totally magical. Zimmer:|Die Unterkünfte sind eher moderne Holzhütten als Zelte, auf erhöhten Plattformen erbaut, mit gelungenem Mix aus Komfort und Naturbezug. Das grosszügige Bett mit Moskitonetz bietet guten Schlafkomfort. Das offene Badezimmer unterstreicht das Safari-Feeling, wobei das WC in einem separaten Raum untergebracht ist – ein Pluspunkt in Sachen Privatsphäre. Die private Terrasse bietet herrlichen Blick auf Pool und Wiese – besonders eindrucksvoll, wenn Zebras vorbeischauen. Ein liebevoller Honeymoon-Snack wartete als Überraschung im Zimmer. Nachts sollte man sich jedoch auf laute Frösche einstellen.||Essen:|Die Mahlzeiten werden im offenen Restaurant mit schönem Blick über Pool und Landschaft serviert. Geschmacklich war das Essen in Ordnung, wir fanden es jedoch etwas weniger frisch als anderswo. Besonders erwähnenswert ist die Happy Hour am Pool mit wirklich köstlichen Snacks – definitiv ein Highlight.||Personal:|Das Team ist sehr freundlich, professionell und hilfsbereit – auch wenn bei den Mahlzeiten fast etwas zu oft nach dem Wohlbefinden gefragt wurde. Nachts wird man vom Personal mit Taschenlampe zur Hütte begleitet – ein netter Service, den man aber bei kurzer Distanz auch höflich umgehen kann.||Service:|Das Gepäck wird zuverlässig bis ins Zimmer gebracht. Wünsche werden aufmerksam umgesetzt. Trinkgeld kann man individuell (z. B. in Dollar) direkt geben – eine Sammelbox gibt es nicht.||Ausstattung:|Sehr gute Ausstattung: Strom, Licht, Klimaanlage, Moskitonetz, Handtücher und ab dem zweiten Abend sogar ein Kühlschrank im Zimmer. Das Camp ist nicht umzäunt, vermittelt aber dennoch ein sicheres Gefühl. Wilde Tiere halten in der Regel Abstand. Eine professionelle Begleitung in der Nacht wird dennoch angeboten.||Sauberkeit:|Die Hütten waren sehr modern und in einwandfreiem Zustand. Besonders positiv: Der Wäscheservice ist effizient, günstig und empfehlenswert.||Komfort:|Hoher Komfort für ein Safari-Camp. Weiche Betten, moderne Ausstattung und ein stimmiges Gesamtambiente machen die Lodge zu einer Glamping-tauglichen Wohlfühloase.||Internet:|Es gibt WLAN, aber mit limitiertem Datenvolumen und langsamer Geschwindigkeit. Für grundlegende Kommunikation reicht es – ideal zum digitalen Entschleunigen.||Ausflüge:|Die Lodge ist ein idealer Ausgangspunkt für Pirschfahrten im Tarangire-Nationalpark. We had a lovely stay at this lodge. It is very quiet but close to the national park and enjoy a beautiful spot overlooking the lake full of flamingos. The pool is just wonderful, and we have unforgettable memories of enjoying the swim whilst watching animals and birds in the surrounding area. The happy hour was wonderful and the staff could not be any friendlier or accommodating. We arrived very late, as the lodged we had originally booked was folded. The welcomed us so warmly and we had a beautiful meal on arrival. A shout out to the chef who took personal pride in making every meal wonderful.
