We had an incredible weekend at Selous River Camp. We arranged our own driver and transport from Kilwa Masoko which took around 5 hours. The roads were quite bad, having to go very slow up to 30km / hour for over 2 hours of the journey. Other than the long uncomfortable drive, we were welcomed so pleasantly by the team at Selous River Camp. Although we arrived late in the evening they had dinner and our induction prepared for us. Abdullah went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing experience. The full day game drive was incredible, we saw Lions, Giraffes, Zebra’s, Warthogs, Hippos, Hyena’s, Elephants, Impala’s and so much more! During the boat cruise we got up close to a crocodile, saw hundreds of hippo’s and a huge variety of birds, monkeys, baboons and lizards. I highly recommend minimum two nights to enjoy your experience, three for additional time to relax at the accommodation facilities like around the pool. The sunset is also spectacular!! We stayed in a bush canvas tent with an ensuite, the bathroom was very nice and the tent, while reasonably basic it contained everything we needed. Thank you go the Slow Leopard team and all staff at the camp for making this an unforgettable stay!

This camp was fantastic. We loved the whole experience there. The accommodations were uniquely suited to the situation. The meals were served under the thatched roof of the open sided dining room. The view out to the river was unobstructed. The server Cifoni was courteous and professional. Our guide Kenneth was a fountain of information about all the animals and the details of the camp's environment. The river tour culminated in a riverside stop to enjoy a glass of wine while luxuriate in the fading light of an African sunset over the mountains in the distance. The whole day land safari was filled with visual delights. We saw wild elephant families with massive mama's and comparatively diminutive babies, majestic giraffes, elegant Impalas, fractious baboons, the elusive painted wild dogs, water buffalos, fish eagles, and so many more exotic African animals. We had a spectacular day. This was tipped off with a dinner set out on our table under the stars, and a roaring bonfire made just for us. I highly recommend this wilderness camp for any adventurer looking to see water and land animals up close and personal while being spoiled by attentive staff.

We had the best time at Selous River Camp – truly a wonderful and special trip! The setting is absolutely beautiful, right by the river with stunning views and a peaceful, natural atmosphere. The staff were excellent and made us feel so welcome – special thanks to Sultan, Frank, and Abdullah for their warm hospitality and great service. A huge shoutout to our safari guide Chas (Charles) – he was phenomenal! Incredibly knowledgeable, a brilliant animal spotter, and always cheerful and friendly. He really made our safari experience unforgettable. The food was delicious every day – fresh, flavorful, and just what you need after an adventure-filled day. We can't recommend Selous River Camp highly enough – it was a truly magical experience from start to finish.

The camp is so beautiful, the location is incredible, and the food was delicious. The rooms and facilities were super clean and comfortable. The thing that made this place incredible was the staff. From booking our stay to leaving, the whole experience was seamless - they did their utmost to help us with anything and everything. Frank is the friendliest, most helpful barman - always asking how your day was and checking if you need anything else. Sultan and Dula were lovely and always helping to arrange all the small things that made the trip so special. It was my friend's birthday and Sultan arranged a birthday cake, everyone was singing and dancing - it was truly such a sweet surprise. We booked a package deal through the camp including all food, accommodation and safari. Our safari guide was Songoro, and he was so good we requested him for all of our game drives. He was super knowledgeable and incredibly friendly, he went out of his way to show us as much as he could of the park and to track down specific animals we wanted to see - could not recommend him enough. We will 100% be back to stay at the Selous River Camp, was our favourite part of our entire...
