This was our first safari trip ever (group of five friends) and we absolutely loved it. You arrive at the camp after a short boat trip, during which we already saw some hippos. The camp is located next to Rufiji river. The tented rooms are spacious, clean. Despite advertised by our tour operator as "no frills", they have all the conveniences necessary to make for a comfortable stay (washrooms en-suite, a shower and a terrace with river view). The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful (thanks again to our host Kenneth and our bar man Juma!) and the meals were extraordinary. We had vegetarians in our group and they were also very happy. We stayed for three nights and did the following tours: a boat safari on the first night, including watching the sunset on a river bank (absolutely do that! It was extremely beautiful and sets the mood for the days to come); two full-day car safaris in Nyerere National Park with guide Kennedy. We saw loads of animals (inlucing lions, buffalo, elephants, zebras, hyenas...). It was well-organized, the guide was really likable and lunch was nice. In total, we can absolutely recommend this place - it was an experience we will...
Read moreThank you Kiki, Robson, Gustavo, Duf and all the team at Selous Wilderness Camp. We had the most mind blowing life experience here with you guys. The camp is a camp deep in the bush in Tanzania and it felt like that but it also felt very personal, the food was amazing and the guys working there could not do enough for us. It dose have hints of luxury, the tents are great but really it is quite ruff and ready and very much a proper hardcore safari. We went out at a reasonable time of around 8am, before that it was dark and you need to cross the river to get to the game reserve. Once in the reserve we drove around for 6 to 8 hours, sometimes on roads and quite often not! I don’t know if we where lucky but on the 2 days we went we saw everything except rhinos and leopards. We hope to return it...
Read moreHad some wonderful days here during our safari at Selous. We were taken to the island by a little boat and already encountered our first hippo on the 5 minute boat trip. Location is beautiful, almost alone (they only have 7 tents) on an island in Rufiji river. Terrace offers nice views on the river and is the perfect place for an afternoon beer. Dinner and breakfast were good and very professionally served by their great staff. Three Masai men accompanied us on our way to and from the tents when it was dark to assist in case of any undesired wild animal encounters. Tents are large and comfy - nature's sounds were with us while...
